Placed a food order yesterday for £16.39 p so have adjusted my signature accordingly. I don;t think i am doing too bad as we are half way through the month near enough and i still have half the grocery money left. I do have a lot of food stored up though so it hasn;t been as tricky as it might have been if i hadn;t a well stocked storecupboard and freezer to fall back on.

Today had been a NSD and i haven;t bought any groceries. I made 2 large pizzas, one for today and one for tomorrow.

Well despite wanting some no spend days I have spent a bit today. £8 odd in Farm foods on milk, toilet rolls & chocie bars, £4 in market on cobs & veg, £8 in Sainsburys on ketchup, black bean sauce, Dairylea cheese and deodrant plus £6 in the Co Op tonight on presents for teachers. I did also spend another £6 in Sainsburys on Tresemme shampoo and conditioner which was on offer of 2 for £6. I haven't included this as yet cos I definitely wont use this this month as already have 2 full ones. I will add it on at the start of next month unless by some weird & wonderful chance that I not only come within budget this month but also have £6 spare!

I really hope now that I can stop spending for a bit but in a way it may be possible seeing as I hate shopping so much with the kids in tow.
(Oh just remembered another £3 in Bargain Booze on the bottles of coke!)

Tuesday and Wednesday were total NSDs

Today was a designated spend day (due to Council Tax D/Debit hitting my bank account), so last night I meal planned to the end of the month (as best I can, 'cos it's always subject to change at weekends depending on whether I'm at home or at OH's - in which case I have to find something easy for DS to make for himself)

Did most of the food shopping at Mr T this morning - and also picked up loads of fruit (fresh and frozen) that wasn't on my list as I'm trying to make myself eat more (sadly lacking in my ability to manage '5 a day', generally being lucky to manage 2 portions with both of those being veg). Also picked up some much needed underwear, but that comes out of other budgets so I can deduct £18 from bill bringing it down to £20.72

Then picked up milk, bread and frozen sliced mushrooms as I left work (Mr M). Total (before staff discount, as I pretend I don't get it and put the money into my sealed pot) came to £5.07

As I got home I realised I'd forgotten the tortillas I need for early next week, so called back in just after 7:30pm (on my way home from an 'outing' with the local running club). But this was always going to be dangerous as it's getting into 'serious Whoopsie time'.... and the 82p tortillas ended up costing me £4.08 :rotfl: But the extra £3.26 netted me goods worth £14.85 - including £5.81 worth of sliced silverside for £1.08, £2.62 worth of sliced hickory smoked chicken for 52p, and £2.49 worth of honey roast salmon slices for 49p :T

Shouldn't need anything else except bread and milk this month. Currently £23.98 under my target for the month, but £11.39 overspent on my 'year to date' target for the end of July.

Mr A delivery so total now £229.45. Going to be a close one but plenty in the Freezer so really need to sit down this weekend and meal plan.

Friends round tomorrow night so was considering a takeaway but might have a rethink. Its amazing how a takeaway and a bottle (or 2) ;) of wine can add up!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. The weather is wild up here today - could hardly keep my little car on the road.

    Hi all,
DH went and got the milk yesterday from FF, to save me the weekly chore. He thinks people are now realising how cheap it is as they had a massive trolley load and were re stocking. The man behind him laughed at the quantity of milk had, my DH said 'well at this price its silly not to get enough for at least a week and freeze it'. The man and his partner/wife hadnt realised you could freeze milk and instantly went round and got some.;)
Hoping my spend will go ok tommorow f and v , and then deodrant, hand wash and SR flour all of which I forgot to put on the Asda delv (f and v I get at greengrocers or farmshop or market).
Need some hob nobs so whilst its breezy must get on with some.

  • Good morning everyone,
making quiche for dinner tonight. Using up bits and bobs. Might also make some banana muffins.
Will update meal plan later and reorganise the freezer and cupboards to make sure I am using up food in sequence. There are some items I am sure have been lurking in freezer far too long and I am going to have to use them very soon.

hope you all have a frugal day.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!
  • Have to buy my lunch from Mr S today because we ran out of butter yesterday so couldn't do sandwiches grr. Will get something cheap.

Have the weekly shop tonight- am aiming to better last week's performance of £69- wish me luck!

Tried making cous cous for dinner for the first time last night and thought it was great, but OH wasn't so impressed. Will have to think of a way to make it more exciting for him!

If I run out of butter I still make sandwiches - just use a little spread of something - pesto sauce, tomato sauce, mayo, salad cream or whatever you have. It is just enough not to make the sandwich too dry. I now prefer pesto sauce - my A$da smartprice jar of course!
