spent nil so far this month, and very little last due to stocking up on 19p tins of kidney beans, tinned tomatoes etc, combined a few store/freezer cupboard essentials with plenty of fruit, veg and tatties in the garden and im looking at spending zero on food this month....amazing how much money i wasted on soft drinks and juices etc...so for the moment its h2o, may get boring, but just gotta think of the long term benefits
good luck everyone
another tip. if your into hot chocolate, ask options via their website for samples0 -
Halfway through the month and I'm just about on target! Total spends amount to £78.27 which includes the dine in deal at M$S at the begining of the month and 3 for £5 offer on cold meats - they were lovely but Aldi is cheaper. I tried buying more from the market this time, we normally buy some fruit and veg there and we have a dairy type stall so bought lg block of cheddar for £1.80, 3 mozzerellas for £1, big tub olives for £1.50 and 1 doz fr eggs for £2.20 - all lovely so will go back.
Had 10 NSD's so far this month :j but had a lapse yesterday and popped into Aldi for bits totalling £11.32 - cold meats for dh's packed lunches, yogurts (55p for 4) Houmous (99p) hangs head in shame cos I have all the ingredients in to make houmous!:o and my fav comfort food (I needed it) fishfingers!
2 weeks to go and have £71.73 left in the kitty!
Very interesting about the corned beef! will have to wean dh off corned beef hash then!
Good luck everyone! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Still managing to spend as little as possible and therefore making time to tackle other tasks. I suppose food is "central" to most of us and it is surprising that when this is less so, how much time is freed. Another thing is that using up old created recipes from the freezer, (rather than purchase more) is quick, less "messy" and more appreciated.0

wow everyone else is doing so well! Afraid to admit i've lost the plot (again) this month! Think i've addd up the totals correctly but am getting confused as some we pay for with Asda vouchers and other times credit card. Worked out this month so far we have spent £185.97 which is totally my fault cos i buy tons of fruit this time of year! My budget was £225 so i have left to spend £39.03!!! I have also been given a £5 Morrisons voucher so that brings it up to £44.03 left, but once i buy nappies, wet wipes won't be much left.
Am definately going to do a list of my cupboards/freezer later and start baking again - been v lazy lately but can't use the hot weather as an excuse now as its raining! Also, although we've spent less that we used to, have spent loads in entertainment and peoples birthdays this month, going to sort out some stuff to try and ebay off to get some of the money back.(esp as i went on the next online sale last night) Hope you all have a great day xgrocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000 -
Good morning everyone,
well will be another nsd today. Using up left overs for lunch and having gammon steak and pineapple for dinner. Now have a little space in my under the stairs store cupboard due to me starting to use tins I had been stockpiling.
Think I will use the space for storing more household items I see on offer e.g. washing up liquid,
Still wet here, terrible thunder storms last night, but hopefully the sun will return eventually. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
popping on quickly to update - did manage totalk dh into popping into tescos on tues so £3.71 to add - he did buy more than that but still spent under £10 - some of that was a present for me and some sweets for the car as we have a 10hr return trip to devon, but as drinks etc for this weekend wouldn't come out of GC so I'm not counting them - is that cheating?
NSD yesterday but had to buy milk this morning!!! - tomorrow I have a £5 off £50 for Mr T's that runs out so I'm gonna do half my monthly shop for August tomorrow. It's all staples that I know I won't dip into until then but if I do I'll add the cost onto this month - does that make sense?? must dash as i have to change the kids beds before I pick dd up from nursery!! will have to update sig next time!!FebGC

Me and OH spent £13 on wine/beer and sweets (:o) last night. It had been a bad day! Don't think I'm going to achieve the target this month, so will just have to try to minimise the damage until August now.Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221
