    Hello All,

I seem to have been lurking a lot recently. Well reading your posts whenever I get the chance really. I've been so busy in work as I go on jury service on Monday and had to try and finish loads of things before I left.

Amazingly we have been really good with NSD - managing not to spend anything between Saturday 10th and Thursday 15th. :T So we're well on target for the 19 I'm trying for this month.

Some fantastic tips on freezing milk a couple of pages back so thanks all for those. Do any of you buy and importantly freeze non-homogenised milk?

I had a tremendous bonus in the week too as one of my colleagues gave me a dozen of her gorgeous FR eggs. :D

So, yesterday I went and bought a few top up items, butter, milk, cheese, etc from MrT and spent £29.04. Today we went to town to the grocers and butchers and OH got one or two bits in Coop which all totalled up to £17.42. Still well within budget then so very pleased. :j

Not sure how much I'll be around next week but will try to keep up with your stories even if I don't post myself. You are all truly inspiring. :A

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

    Take care,
    Spigs

I forgot to say by the way that one of the things saving us a fortune and providing very healthy food is our potted veg growing. It's blooming marvellous!

Had no need to spend on groceries today. Had some couscous for lunch i made and froze ages ago, and i was invited to my folks for tea since my daughter went away for a holiday today. Think my parents think i might get lonely, but i quite like my own company (even of there aren't many others who do LOL!). So all in all, a good day, just spoke to DD and she and her friends are having a brill time in Wales, I can sleep okay tonight knowing they are all alright! Oh yes, so as i was saying, a NSD so well chuffed!

  • Spent £900 on a couch today (eek!) so really must watch the food budget now.

Anyone tried those colour catcher sheets in their laundry? Trying to reduce the number of loads I do but no idea if that's s reasonable way to do it?

  • I went round w8trose and managed to keep the spend down to £18 so I was really pleased and at the co-*p the amount was £10 so I'm still managing to stay under the budget - it's great being in control for a change instead of having a panic attack because there's so many days left in the month and I've got no money left -oh yes! I like having NSD's and some money left-well so far......

Hi all, well officially failed this month (again), had £3.11 plus a £5 'emergency' voucher but hubby went to shops on his way home from work and got himself aload of beer and chocolate and spent £22.54!!!!! I know he has worked v hard this month and done lots of overtime but tbh i am feeling a bit disheartened about it all, i dreally need to cut back nxt month. We are away for a wk and i have saved up the money for food so not including that wk then hopefully i will have a lower spend and stick to the lists nxt month!

Btw i freeze milk regularly as well and it's usually fine but i have had a couple of times this year, got the milk out to find the carton has split down one side!Anyone else had this at all?

Anyway had an expensive month what with about 7 birthdays and the next sale (ahem). That's the clothes challenge out of the window as well! Hope you all have a good day x

Good morning all,I'm trying to creep back in quietly after not having been here for ages.

I will catch up with the posts-eventually,but things have been quite hectic with all the activities that were organised for my 60th:D (July 11th) but celebrations started on June 19th with big week long family holiday.

So not only am I now ancient, still working, but have lost the plot with the spending. We(DH and me)have been doing well but not added it up-oops.

Think that we will start again in August when I have been (re)inspired by all your supporting posts.

  • mrs snowy: congratulations on your special b/d.

Used up two jellies yesterday, a tin of custard and a tin of fruit to make individual trifles. Another small space in my food mountain.:j
Pork chops for dinner today with potatoes, cabbage and gravy.

Still wet here, having to dry clothes on airer in bathroom. Hate not being able to hang out my washing and I don't have,(nor want) a tumble drier.

Hope everyone has a frugal day.

    Hya all,

Back from our holiday in Scotland and catching up. Discovered I hadn't even subscribed to this thread, never mind posted on it!!:eek:

Oh well, I may find the time to catch up, but it may take a few days!!

Got back yesterday evening, and have hung out the third load of washing this morning...still enough for another two or three, but the weather looks threatening, so may hold out for tonight/tomorrow. Mind you, there is the dog's bedding which she was sick on during the trip down...so that should get done now...have the joy of rinsing it first though  !

Not too bad a holiday money-wise, though spent a lot on pressies for family. Didn't manage to get to Orkney in the end as DH had bad case of S&D last weekend..that and the gale on Sunday made us cancel. Great news though, we have had a full refund on the ferry, and the hotel doesn't want any money either!! It sort of makes up for not seeing the various freiends and family we were planning on meeting, as well as many lovely places of interest. Plan on going up again later this year and getting across on my own.

Signature has the GC total: £264.83 spent on food and household stuff so far, so £135.17 left for the rest of the month. Should do it...but have a tendancy to go a bit mad at the end of the month...will try and be restrained this month!! Managed 5 NSDs while I was away, so have now 7 out of the planned 12 for this month...can I keep it up!!

Off to sort out the dog's bedding, then make a list of the freezer, fridge and cupboard contents so I can see what we have and then draw up a shopping list. DS1 and GF have been here for a few days, so some food has gone, and more has appeared, just not sure what yet!!

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone...oh it's good to be home again!! :)

    PS Happy Birthday Mrs Snowy!!
