Anyone tried those colour catcher sheets in their laundry? Trying to reduce the number of loads I do but no idea if that's s reasonable way to do it?
Hi,
I use these, and I think there great. There's only me and OH, so we don't have a great deal of washing, so its good to be able to chuck it all in together. Never had a problem at all. Spent £2.17 yesterday on a packet of skim milk powder from Mr S as I was passing, but apart from that my purse was not opened. I like to keep milk powder in, as I have fresh milk delivered on Tues, Thurs and Sat every week, and sometimes need extra for the 3-day gap at the weekend. Normally make up a pint of the powdered, then mix it with a pint of the fresh and pour it in to two bottles.
I mentioned yesterday my 'sausage meat' patties, and I think I said Sosmeat - of course I meant Sosmix! Enjoyed them again last night with potatoes and carrots mashed together, broccoli, and more onion gravy, this time made with green onion tops chopped up.
People who are not veggies sometimes ask me what I find to eat - of course there's an endless variety of dishes and menus, never a dull moment (as in any cooking!)
Enjoy your Sunday everyone - I'm off in a minute on my daily visit to DH in hospital. He shouldn't be there much longer - we've found a good dementia care home not too far from here, and are awaiting the verdict from the funding panel that met a couple of days ago. A bit scary, but I can't pay what I haven't got, so I'm sure it will be fine.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
£165.82 spent of £450 - this is my best attempt ever! I usually spend that in the first week.
Lots of using stuff up and the odd peculiar meal (like leftovers night on the Incredibles) and far more yucky pasta then I like but needs must. The frozen chicken stash was slowly dwindling only I went to the co-op and they had reduced them to £2 again and it seemed rude not to......
In the interests of using stuff up yesterday I made a butternut squash. caramelised red onion and goats cheese pizza which was lovely. Today I made a sticky ginger cake to use up the dregs of a bag of molasses sugar and some stem ginger. I have vast quantities of carrots which want making into soup and freezing.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
How fortunate i am, my parents invited me for lunch today so i had no cooking to do and i haven't had to buy any groceries...i even took my dog and she got fed for free too! LOL!

Hello!
Whoopsied 2 lamb shanks in the slow cooker(thanks Mr S) today with some carrots, onion, red wine and rosemary. New potatoes, broccoli, and peas. I took the meat off the bone and there was enough for all of us. Pre mse I would have served one each and we would have struggled to eat it. Now I know better and thanks to whoever mentioned or here that this was doable.
I didn't use my slow cooker properly before I came on here -thanks to the slow cooker experts over on "what's in your slow cooker today?" Now Dh awaits with anticipation whatever is inside, knowing that the recipe has been tried and tested. You should have seen him tonight sitting at the dining table with his knife and fork at the ready(we were out and didn't have lunch). LOL
We had some friends over last night for a drink and a snack and I have some leftover stilton. Any suggestions for using this up? Oh doesn't like it unless it's in something.
Have a good evening everyone.
Take care.

I always make macaroni cheese with Stilton, and also use it in other recipes where you would normally use cheddar.
Always delicious!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Thanks Winchelsea what a good idea-we haven't had macaroni cheese for ages!
Hope everything goes well for your DH!

Spent another £5 today, after 6 NSDs! DP and I are both off work this coming week, so I will be spending a bit more, as we are planning at least one or two days out in London, but we'll be taking packed lunches and going to places we can get 2 for 1 entry to save money.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
