    800g red onions
    4 tbsp of olive oil
    1tsp salt
    100g golden granulated sugar
5 tbsp of red wine vinegar
1 tbsp of fresh thyme leaves

heat oil in large pan and add onions. sweat over a low heat for 35-40mins stirring frequently until they have reduced considerably and are very soft. dont allow them to brown.

add everything else and simmer til liquid has evapourated and jam is thick.

    hope that helps!

Can it be eaten right away or does it have to be left for a while and what do you serve it with? Sounds lovely!

Yep I agree with that. I spent ages using the search tool and scrolling through the forum for recipies. If we had a sticky at least we could say see page ????? etc.

I have attempted my first batch of Pear Drop Vodka! Unfortunately I couldn't find proper pear drops :( I could only find the large pear drops that kinda look like the rhubarb and custard sweets with the red bit and the yellow bit!
I've stuck this in my vodka but its gone all cloudy and looks a bit like pink milk! Will this still taste ok? :S

Have now strained the unfortunate looking pear drop vodka and has come out really clear and no longer sludgy :D hurrah! Have made some skittles vodka also and want to try the toffee next :D

I know it's not our thread or has all the information you want, but if you look at the sticky Gifts and Hampers at the top of the Special Occasions forum and scroll down it, there is a section specifically with food and drink recipes

    Hi

I would go for 1 punnet raspberries and 1 bag of werthers, and see how the vodka looks once in, you can top up at the time of making it,

i bought cellophane and ribbon off ebay the other day and its just arrived and i am in love :D

the shop is called flower hour on ebay and I am highly impressed. For 14pound I got 30m of printed cellophane and 500m of curling ribbon! I recommend!

i also bought my ribbon today so I can start wrapping the tops of my pots with material etc.
