Hi guys! Didnt know where to post this but I have a huge bottle of vodka that is unopened and had it a while now! Just wondering where I could get small bottles so I could do something with the vodka and share it out into smaller gifts!:xmassmile**New** Thrifty Gifty Money Making for Christmas and all occasions 2012**:xmassmileMember No. 11 of Happy Chappy's Clip Strip Club!

Hi Legendmum
I've used tomato ketchup bottles for herb vinegars, so might be ok for vodka. I think mum2one buys some kind of cheap alcohol in small bottles in one of those home bargains type shops and decants it. I'm sure she'll read this and tell you.0 -

I have decided this year to also make hampers full of homemade preserves and goodies.
I would like to recommend the river cottage preserves book, its fantastic, the lady who writes it is fatastic, she covers everything from sterelising jars to how much each recepie makes to how long it lasts for.
As so many people posted wanted recipes for flavoured vodka, I thought i would share a little secret! I have heard, although not tried it, that you can place a sweet or 2 in a jar of vodka, worthers, skittles jelly bellys might work well too, and place it in the dishwasher on a hot cycle and hey presto flavoured vodka!
If any one has tried it please could they let me know if this does work and is not a urban legend!
I made mars bar vodka in the dishwasher. It turned out quite lumpy, but I probably could have chopped it smaller to start off with. It was too 'vodka-ey' for me, I'm not a fan of the taste and I thought the mars may have taken the edge off, but it didn't. Waste of a load of mars bars, haha.0 -

Never heard about the dishwasher thing and frankly seems an aodd thing to do when you don't really need to
I make skittle vodka and werthers original vodka and both work greatI suspect you can use most hard/boiled sweets if you like...
How many you add will depend on your taste really... If you make it with skittles - take the green ones and purple ones out so you'll probably need 2 bags for a bottle of vodka. Pity that you'll have to eat theseIf you leave them in the finished colour will be a little odd and can go brownish (you could I guess leave the purple in - I just like the orangey colour if you don't - and I like eating the purple ones
)
Once you have decanted enough vodka to fit all your skittles in leave a tiny space in the neck for air which will make shaking it easier...
Now... shake WELL! Shake at least twice a day until the skittles have completely dissolved... the more you shake the quicker they dissolve... Ditto werthers
Never tried marsbars - can't see them working with what's in them but I guess they might... I'd just rather eat themDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I love Mars Bar Vodka, it's lush. As I don't have a dishwasher, I melted mine in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. When its fully melted I then added the vodka a little at a time. I have made loads of chutneys and been saving the cider vinegar bottles from asda, to use for pouring my flavoured vodkas in.0

I fancy making the individual flavours of skittles vodka like on here http://mixthatdrink.com/skittles-vodka-tutorial/. They look so effective!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

They look fantastic and would make brilliant presents!
I have made the strawberry vodka... it looks good but I havent tried it yet. I have some vodka left so might try the skittles one next!
There's a bar near me that always has loads of different vodka flavours - mint aero, dime bars, mars bar etc etc... there must be about 30 different flavours. I might just have to go there again to test some out and get some ideas! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."

the toffee vodka made with the dairy toffee is lovely, the vodka made with the soft stuff isn't a nice - I think it's the buttery ness.
oooh skittle vodka! but I need it to match my colour scheme... me thinks I could make it for my birthday in January - which is basically Christmas.
I got bottles for £3.99 from Lakeland - they are sloe gin bottles according to my mum but they're cheap in comparison to others I've seen!If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

Thos should be post of the week, love it........ the dime bar vodka sounds fab xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Bottles - I got some bucks fizz in boots 75% sale with the chocs, drank that kept those,
used miniture bottles, more for trial the flavours, (if it goes wrong not wasted much)
if you buying at Tesco they do Fetmans drinks (adults soft drinks), there nice shape bottles
Home bargains / asda / tesco etc - they do the small bottles of wine, have a drink and reuse bottles. - of can freeze the wine and use in cooking
Could use anything at home, even ketchup bottles, as long as screw top.
if I do a 70cl bottle - let it melt away and decant when done.
I've done Terrys choc orange - nice as it had the orange aftertaste.
