  • I had a go at some vodkas yesterday for the first time! Did chilli, skittles, mars bar and toffee. Separate of course lol They are looking good but still lots of disolving to do.
Also making another batch of chutney today but made a HUGE mistake of doubling up all ingredients to get double the amount. Started at 3pm and still blinking going with the reducing... YAWN! bored now, wont be making any more this year haha!

We've had a productive afternoon, made
    Caramel toffee vodka
    Toffee Vodka
    Pear drop vodka
    Kola cube vodka
orange + red wine gum vodka

Not done big batches - used 70cl vodka

    Flavoured coffees-
    Cafe au lait
    Vienna coffee
    Mocha coffee

    Then
raspberries - in syrup and raspberry liquer
cherries - in syrup and cherry liquer

There all ready to decant nearer xmas, - got some cello bags for the coffee, baby food jars - for raspberries and cherries, then get some miniture bottles for the vodkas xx

Hey guys I LOVE the Apple Sourz and Apple Mickey Finns! Just wondering if I could do something like that with Vodka but what to use? Umm I dont know any apple sweets really! Any ideas? I have a small red skittle vodka resting in the cupboard, only 50ml, just to try because I have a huge 1 litre bottle to do something with!

The only apple sweets that I can think of are Rosey Apples (like http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/rosy-apples-p-303.html but I know supermarkets have their own versions) but whether they would work I have no idea!!

    Hi all

Enjoyed reading your posts, never heard of pear and pinneapple combination before.

What happened to your b/f's slush, did you throw it out Stacey?

Mum2one, how big is your freezer for all those mince pies? Mine is full already with all the fruit, so no idea where I'll put any Christmas food :(

Haven't thrown it out yet, he's convinced it will improve, I'm not so sure!!

Reading all the posts on here, I decided to give the flavoured vodka a go and went on a search for Werthers, but on the way I got distracted by a bag of Halloween Treacle toffees and decided to try these instead. I mixed the two together last Wednesday and have left it sat in the kitchen since, shaking it 2 to 3 times a day. Most of the toffees have dissolved but there are still a couple stuck to the bottom of the bottle. When the vodka mixture is shaken, the liquid looks like a lovely toffee colour (a bit like Dooleys or a thin Baileys) but when its left to stand the mixture separates and it looks disgusting!! will this right itself or do I need to do something to fix it??

the 1st effort last yr split but I don't know whether it was because I added extra vodka, but when served it - just said it was a layered vodka - no complaints - the one neighbour who came round he thought it was gorgeous, and was going down like juice. Tasted lovely even thou it was layered. xx

the kola cube vodka, bashed half a bag full, put into a clean jar and then topped up with vodka. Giving it a good shake, - started disolving already - just been for a good shake of the bottles.

Raspberry vodka - theres a recipie on this thread, basically raspberries, sugar mixed together, put that in a clean bottle - shake daily for a week, then weeekly the raspberries break down with the sugar and the alcohol, you may need to add more sugar during the "waiting process", to sweeten it up.

I did small batches, the pear drop reminded me of pink medicine - think that may be an acquired taste. xx
