Mike - Great news on the transmission date (though I would have preferred Christmas day as I have the day to myself :D)

Hope you were wearing a cushioned coat or have some padding to soften the blow. You can get rubber crampoon thingys of 'tinternet - they give you traction on ice apparently.

Hope the 'lady talk' on MG thread hasn't put you off too much ... hope to see you over there soon ;)

Alone on Christmas Day? Join the club! (Or does someone (Edit 'else') need a hug?)

I have more padding than is healthy. Mostly on the front unfortunately.

Lady talk? I can't say I noticed... just find it difficult to keep up! Everyone talking at once... Bit like being in a room full of... no, never mind, I'll leave it there.

Jolly snowy here... I've got eight inches here. How deep's yours?

Snow??? Pretty much zilch, well about 3-4 inches. Roads on the estate are fun but main roads are fine (though not attempting many hills in the vehicle).

As for Christmas Day alone, I am really looking forward to it (strange or what). It's because my OH, who has not wanted to celebrate Christmas for the 3 years we have been together, suddenly announced that he had been invited to his daughters for Christmas. He then innocently said he thought I would be visiting my family (who live 150 miles north) even though I'm a 'Christmas Elf' in retail and don't finish until 7pm on the 24th. I only just managed to stop impersonating a goldfish and stop the steam coming out of my ears

Then I thought more... it has its advantages
    - as he feels guilty, he will be waiting on hand, foot and finger on Christmas Eve,
    - I am sure I will get some nice presents,
    - I don't have to spend a tense afternoon with people who didn't want me
    - I don't have to spend a 'jolly' afternoon with grown up children and an ex-wife,
    - my dinner can come in a foil tray from M&S,
    - once I drive home on Xmas morning, the car will be put to bed (whether I decide on a small sherry or not),
    - I have control of the remote and the TV off button.

All in all, I'd say it's a result

Mike, 30th eh? Oo, this is beginning to feel 'real'! I know in thory they might change it, but then again they might not! I'm getting excited!

How is the Dolls' House going to look for Christmas? It's so gorgeous anyway that maybe you should just do what I once saw on Libertys of London - a massive red ribbon tied round the building in a big bow!

Sympathies to all who fell over... me too! A passerby (there's always one!) was very sympathetic, but the truth is I had so many layers on it wasn't much more than a glorified leaning sideways :D and I was perfectly all right. We have about 6 inches of snoooo up here, a lot less than in the surrounding countryside but enough to make falling over all part of the fun ;).

Miggy-news... mum back in hospital and likely to stay for a while as 'they' are concerned she isn't taking sufficient care of herself. Actually she's looking pretty good and being taken good care of, just having tons of short-term memory problems. However, as a friend said to me, after a certain age (in my case I think it was 19 ;)) one has so much in one's head that new stuff is bound to have trouble finding space!

Meanwhile in Miggyland one has mince pies to make and Christmassy stuff that won't do itself... anyone up for drinkies here sometime on Christmas Day? :D I can bring virtual mince pies unless you're all sick of them in which case what would you prefer?

  • Miggy, you can never have enough mince pies!! Hope your mum is ok.

30th! YAY! I'm on earlies then as well so I can actually watch it. I just hope they don't change it and not tell us. I shall be looking at the other programmes Mr Nick mentioned anyway....

    Great Attitude NL.
When my exoh left in the middle of November (several years ago now) everybody was worried about me having christmas day on my own. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I had breakfast in bed, a little bucks fizz with an egg toasted sandwich I allowed my two dogs into the bedroom and we all snuggled up and watched tv til lunch. Then I got up and took them both for a lovely long walk with nobody to bother us. I put their jingle bells on. Then I had sausage and mash for my dinner YUM. Opened the pressies that I had given my sister the money for and asked her to wrap for me.
I watched all my favourite films and ended up listening to Radio 3 Proms it was one of the best Christmas Days I have ever had. I think because I was out of the loop for all the family pressure and being able to do whatever I pleased which is what Christmas Day should be about.
Still, dont let OH off the hook just yet :rotfl:

18! (Actually, thats a snowy white lie... it's 18 in my home town, but less so here. None too chuffed about having to scrape the in and outside of the car this evening to get though! Pah!

Miggy, I hope you mum is ok and back home soon. I understand the falling/leaning over thing - 4 is the very minimum amout of layers I'll wear at the moment! Double that if I'm out and about... ;)

Still waiting on that skelk bag!

Fingers crossed for the 30th! (Most of work will have so much on around that time of year, they'll hopefully have forgotten what date it was I said! Phew!)

:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j Isn't that typical I go to bed last night and then because of the snow we had last night not been able to get back on the laptop - had to drive to work and then actually do some work so I could come home early - then had to take DYS to work because he is on tomorrow at 0600 so took him in so he can stay there and be ready for his shift scary journey - then got some washing in the machine and then in to tumbler - then turned on the laptop and WHAT DO I FIND - A DATE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED. SB I am ecstatic, champers is on ice already and the Mince Pies will go down a treat. Where is Happy does she know? OH keeps asking me when it is to be shown so lets hope they don't change their minds. Just only hope I don't get a shift at 2nd Job!! Skipping off to make a hot chocolate.
