We are all still waiting patiently for the screening date so you haven't missed it :)

BBC seem to be showing it as a filler rather than a proper series so don't know if that is why your series link deleted itself

A few of us made it to the reveal and we had a great time, happy to say more after it is on TV :D

Not so sure about the patiently bit Maty! :D

And not liking the fact it seems to be on at different times in England and Scotland. :( What's that all about? Booo!

BILLIE - your words brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my lips. And it's absolute;y not an outlandish thing to say; it's exactly the way it should be. Take care xxx

Happy, big hugs sweetie. I know how hard that is. :( xxx

Psycho - stop lurking and get studying ;):D. Great to see you at the weekend and good luck in the exam!!!!

Butti - thanks for the message! I've stayed in bed all day today trying to sweat out this pesky cold! Good luck with all your bits and bobs!

Billie, that is the perfect way to celebrate a friends life. To be able to come away being proud of your men, with compliments about your tribute and to know that your friend would have enjoyed it. What better way to celebrate a life than to have a smile. I recently went to a funeral and was taken aback when at the crematorium as the curtains were drawn, half of the congregation stood up and applauded, it was the most amazing feeling. Life should be celebrated, even in death. Well done. Take your time with the estate and allow yourself little moments of reflection when they creep up on you.

  • Happy...Pm'd you honey, sending you big hugs and always nearby if you want to talk, take care sweetie. xx

Billie... you should feel proud of you too. The funeral service sounded lovely and a fitting tribute to a dear friend. You did your friend and yourself proud to have coped on such a difficult day, a celebration of her life and the happy memories she left behind. ( When you are old is a beautiful song choice and the lyrics fitted your friendship so well.) I hope the sorting of the estate runs as smoothly and I'm glad you feel as though you have turned a corner in your own life. Always here for you honey.

Howdie Hootie, glad you found us all but sorry we never got to meet you too. Wondering if many of the other regular posters have also been unable to find Mike's new thread?

Skintdragon....forgot to say well done on becomming debtfree, you go girl!

Psycho, Nic and Butti....Hope you had a great time together in Glasgow (& had lots to drink...hope there's pics!)

Psycho...Well done too on helping claire with her business & good luck in your exams

Mike...you've been quiet but I hope you're well and just busy getting on with living life after having it put on hold for buildery related things! Enjoy!

    Hope everyone else is well

Hi Mike and your Mob, I am only 40 pages into your first thread and expecting to be quite a while yet before getting totally up to date. I am unable to sleep at the mo (problems building up, all my own fault - on my mind constantly). A couple of years ago I also had problems with a builder who built an extension and the finishing was shocking, we refused to pay the final instalment which would cover the costs of repairing his shoddy work. He sued ME not both me and my husband, lied about the amount and after 3 visits to court, us paying a solicitor but ended up representing myself, the judge ended up saying we didn't have to pay him but he wouldn't cover the legal costs of £1000. We paid him this final amount. We had to give in really because we couldn't live with a dangerous bathroom and kitchen and couldn't get started on the work till the courts were all finished with us! Anyway I am still very bitter about him, I used to be so scared of him but karma will happen. I just have to stop thinking negative thoughts!
Anyway, I have no idea what's happening with you cos I am about 6 months behind but hoping to catch up!
Best of luck with all you have on your plate at the mo.

    Hi all!

Specially to the new faces ploughing through pages of threads!

No sign of a broadcast date, but I have had to sign some release papers so I guess it's near the top of the pile still.

Apologies for being quiet of late - stuff to do, but also thinking of you all, very often. I haven't always felt able to write and sound normal!

Have had some excellent weekends with the boys here, it is a wonderful home now and resists the worst of the weather - it's blowing a force 8 out there right now and I can't feel a thing! A small leak on the big plastic thing on the back of the house seems to have been sorted yesterday by the installers, so it's all pretty good. A bit anxious about the impending cold weather as the heating (which didn't work pre-BBC still doesn't work and I haven't got any money to have it fixed. Or to buy food really. The car is making odd noises too and that's going to cost hundreds... so not everything is hunky dory. But whose life is perfect?

I had aimed to start doing some work this month, but maybe I was a bit optimistic. Some of the old problems that were masked by the house issue have flared up and I'm doing what I can to get through it all. I don't like to admit that I'm not Superman, but there's only so much one person can do at a time! (Hankies please for everyone who thought I was invincible!) There's only one of me...

I still find it almost impossible to watch Cowboy Builders, Watchdog and all those, because it is all still close to the surface for me and I can guess what the people are going through. Those programmes aren't just cheapo telly entertainment... when someone comes in to solve an immense problem, as they do, the effect on the homeowners is huge. And as I can warrant, it's not all beer and skittles the moment the team drives away! I am intensely aware of how fortunate I was to be helped, and will be forever grateful.

It sounds as though there is lots happening in people's lives on here; not all of it good or happy stuff, but to those looking for help, it's here in spades. We all went though a pretty big experience and I certainly feel a bond with everyone who has been part of this thread from the beginning. I'm very aware that I haven't been a great mate for the past couple of months, but please don't underestimate how much I care about everyone here.

Anyone wanting to adopt my central heating or my car's brake pads please get in touch. You'll receive regular letters and photographs from them showing how they're doing..!

Love to all, but specially YOU.

    What's normal :rotfl:

Glad to hear the house is standing up well to the elements but sorry to hear about the leaky plastic thingy, the brake pads & heating issues :( I had thought that the plumber sorted the heating as part of the makeover

Getting the house sorted was never going to wipe away all your problems or issues at once, it was just getting rid of one big worry and reducing the headaches slightly. All of the other things still need ticking off one by one.

One of my concerns about you not posting very frequently is that you are missing out on the fun and support available to you here. We don't expect you to be up and funny all the time you know, we all have good days and bad, and we can help each other through. A problem shared and all that......

Love to you and the young men :D

All true, Maty. Just fed up with the down days! Still not easy asking for help. Everyone needs help in one way or another...

  • Maty has explained it perfectly.... but as said before, we are here when you are ready.

And I'm with you on the heating thing now.... we have storage heaters which are useless to us with the hours we work so a friend kindly gave us two plug-in oil radiators..... combined with the broken seals on the double glazing it's going to be a cold cold winter!

Love and hugs from a psycho xx

I'm sure you'll both find ways to keep warm.
