Not being an expert I am uncertain whether you would be legally entitled to get anything back via an attachment of earnings. As an aside, he is now also hiring tradesmen himself to carry out work on his own home and is trying to avoid paying his bills! Do not employ OR do work for this man! He has numerous unsettled county court judgments against him too!
Ah, now I think I know who you are.0 -

Hello again, apologies for not replying sooner. To answer your question, my husband was owed money for work he did for Paul Bridle on his own home after flood damage to the property. He was known to us as he was a local tradesman but unfortunately we knew nothing of his history. After numerous promises that he would pay we decided to take action by attempting to take him to court ( having been successful using this method with other non payers). Decided to Google him first, got directed to this page and therefore decided to check CCJ's against him/his company. If I remember correctly he had a total of 12 totalling approximately £55,000. We thought we would have to write the debt off but I don't like to give up easily - I have been described as a cross between Miss Marple and a Terrier! As it was a personal debt and not a company one we named both him and his wife in the court papers. That is how we got our money but we had to go before the court even though he didn't turn up. We were awarded generous costs too. We were going for an attachment of earnings against either or both of them but they did not reply to the Court's requests for employer and earnings information. The judge was not amused and sent a 'final warning' saying that if they didn't provide the information they could be in contempt of court which can be an arrestable offence. He paid up at the zenith hour in a bundle of £20 notes. We had each and every note checked before contacting the courts and saying the debt was settled. We are now assisting a fellow tradesman with a similar claim. While doing our own investigations we had heard on the grapevine that he was now employed 'on the books' but to be fair I guess it could be as a sub contractor. He crossed the wrong person - I once watched a customer who owed us money on line for two years until she popped up with a new successful (her words not mine) company. She settled that two year old debt and our Accountant was very impressed! Hope that helps a little but I'm sorry that I can't help further. My husband works extremely hard and I hate this kind of thing and it is shameful that legally we can do so little about it1

I'm delighted that you got your money back and I admire your tenacity.
I need some good legal advice and help to make sure my charging order against him is the best I can get. With luck I will find someone who can help.
This all goes against everything we were brought up to believe, that if you did bad things you would be punished!0 -
Och here's hoping Mike......

I hope he tries it on with the wrong person very soon.
And on a happier note, happy Christmas everyone I don't have an address for. I think about the people on here every day.
May 2014 be a good year for us all.

If I find out anything further at all I will make sure that I post the information on here. The next small claims court proceedings against him are still ongoing at this time but I don't see how they can fail if ours didn't0

I believe Paul Bridle is working in the Horsham area as a builder again but probably self employed now. If I find where he is working I am going to knock on the door and warn them. He needs money to settle a fellow tradesman's debt so I suspect the client will be asked to pay some money up front which is his usual ploy!0
