Getting money back from cowboy builders

Psycho - It would appear that I was too expensive, but they have not actually had the balls to tell me
I chased them up but they just didn't respond.
Did have another interview yesterday thoughShould hear early next week if they want me back for 2nd interview.
And went on a course today to learn interview techniques (better late than never):j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
psychopathbabble wrote: »Catflea... slightly random but sometimes they have IPL on groupon so might be worth a look, I had one in my local area a couple of weeks ago which was £130 for 6 sessions! Still a bit of money but it would reduce the overall cost a bit. Sorry I've posted it on here, just couldn't see how to say it on your website.
I've never seen a groupon offer that cheap! There was one for £99 for 3 sessions (small area) recently but doesn't really cover my need.
I'm on all those kind of sites...Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -

Maty, all the best (albeit belatedly) for the second interview. Shame about the first one but I guess if that's how they treat people then we want better for you.
Any tips from the interview course? (Said she cheekily - always thought I interviewed well but came unstuck at my first group interview).Miggy

Hey gang
Wow, busy in here!Excellent!
Sorry to see so many of you engaged in battle with the black dog at the moment. We really ought to get him neutered, he's breeding far too much these days! Had a minor brush with one of the runts of a litter of his myself earlier this year, but hopefully that's one mangy mutt permanently six feet under...
I can thoroughly recommend a cat as a companion, though, my Charlie-girl is a Godsend! I'm fully expecting to be pinned to the sofa for half an hour of cuddles when I get back home tomorrow after a week away... And I'm absolutely convinced she knows when I need extra snuggles, too
I saw gardening mentioned, now there is a pastime that is DEFINITELY good for the soul - and the stomach! How much sun does your patio get, Mike? Might be a good spot for raspberries or beansNever underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -
When we came back from an extended absence our cats hid in the garden and watched us looking for them, then wandered in later like they hadn't missed us.
I assume someone fed her while you were away?
Damn patio is never out of the sun, nor the conservatory (orangery, actually!) Could probably grow bananas. Must find some sort of sheltering cover next year so I can sit out there. Also need something opaque (and free/cheap) to cover the orangery so I can actually work in there without becoming a raisin. I'm told camouflage netting isn't a good idea. Why not? Neighbours might think I'm building a secret weapon? Mainly a summer problem; it's freezing in winter!0 -

Next door neighbours are feeding her for me, they have a cat of their own but love my Charlie as she is so friendly and interactive, whereas theirs isn't really - he's not a nasty cat, but he's not much of a people person and doesn't do cuddleslisawaters wrote: »Damn patio is never out of the sun, nor the conservatory (orangery, actually!) Neighbours might think I'm building a secret weapon? Mainly a summer problem; it's freezing in winter! You'd be able to tie them in to your fence easily, no need for stakes like I have to use, and they also multiply so freely they're practically weeds - I'm going from about a dozen shoots this year to at least times that number ready for next season; I'm going to be buried in raspberries  Get a couple of different varieties if you can for a longer fruiting season, I have Glen Clova and Glen Ample (and no idea which is which any more! :rotfl:) Make sure they're watered well every day, and enjoy! Same thing with beans, and they're a doddle to grow, though you will need canes for them as they need to climb them.
I've heard on the Old Style section of the forum that covering windows with a double later of bubble wrap is good winter insulation - not the prettiest solution, but relatively cheap, reuseable, and still lets some light in. No idea if it would work in reverse and keep it cool in summer... You might get some good suggestions if you posted over there, or maybe on the In My Home forum?
As for the shade, maybe a builders tarpaulin if cheap is a factor? I have a small one over my shed at the moment (plastic window died), it's pretty durable and the eyelets in it make it easy to tie to things...Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -
Wow, some good ideas there!
So blueberries and a raspberry tarpaulin. Check.0 -
