Hi everyone, just for the record... I was having a miserable day (temporarily no Internet in addition to other stuff) the other day and stuck the telly on to distract me, and guess what?!
There was Mike and his lovely Dolls' House doing a rerun!
:j:j:j
Just wanted to say thanks, Mike and everyone - it was just what I needed and managed to cheer me up and give me courage exactly when I needed it. I don't know if you were aware of 'paying it forward', but you were.Miggy

We knew you were low so I had a word with Sky. Glad it helped a bit.

Oh bless you Mike! Yes, things are better right now - not 100%, but I have been feeding the black dog some vitamin C which might help. I'm not sure why I was low on it, as I take vitamins regularly, but I noticed the tell-tale cracks starting at the corner of my mouth which is what always happens when I'm low on Vit C. It also tends to coincide with feeling down.
I'm scanning the horizon to try to track down any other triggers, but it's a lovely sunny day here so maybe the best I can do is eat some more biscuits (purely a precaution against being blown to somewhere in the vicinity of Holland, you understand) and go to get some exercise, shopping and sunshine.
How are you and your own 'black dog' anyway? And does the Dolls' House garden have any pulmonarias, I can't remember? If not, there are some here looking for a good home.Miggy

I was wondering - Johnny Jet's thread has been very quiet all this year... just wondered if you knew whether things worked out for him?Miggy

miggy, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better at the mo. Interesting to hear about the cracks at the side of your mouth as an indication of reduced Vit C levels...will need to stock up on vit C then!

With you on the biscuits. No other cracks appearing yet so prob all VitC'd up. Lamotrigine kicking in. I have nothing to complain about do I?
Going to attack the back garden this week pre-winter. Almost no idea what I'm doing though. Actually, 'almost' is exaggerating my knowledge enormously.
Bought a box of artificial bedding plants on Ebay and will put those in the front window boxes. Very realistic. Tourists are increasing again following Sky broadcasts and I'm aware that the front looks a bit unloved without flowers. (Should I care? I feel it's part of my being allowed to live here that I keep up the appearance). I'd prefer real ones but there's reasons why I can't do that for now. Just a stopgap until things change. I'll post a pic when all done.
Haven't heard anything from John Jet. Coincidentally I met someone who knows him from assisting in the legal side of his problem but he didn't know what stage things were at either. I hope he's overcome his difficulties and gets his money back.
Hoping the autumn sunshine helps you and others to feel good.

I was channel hopping yesterday and came across the Home channel, DIY SOS was listed so I thought that was a good a programme as any to watch, in typical Horace fashion I managed to find the programme as it was half way through. I sat there thinking that is a really tiny house, isnt that conservatory big, and then I twigged it was your house Mike.
I havent been about much because I have been battling (or rather I am) with depression. It has been a struggle trying to get a new business off the ground and failing, not helped by being skint either. I felt really ancient last week (I am 49 yrs 11 months) as I was told that even though I can still type etc I have been away from PA work for too long and I am now unemployable..erm who takes minutes for a business club? who does all her own typing, filing, keeping a diary, making appointments and speaking to people - these are not jobs that get done by someone else they are done by me!! Maybe it is the self employment bit that is too frightening for them to comprehend?? What I need is Nick Knowles or James Martin to whisk me off my feet - I wouldnt kick either of them out of bed I can tell you:rotfl::eek:0 -

What a pile of crap. Whoever told you that, get your DMs on, go round their house and kick their head in. I'm looking at reception and admin roles and my typing is not very quick at all. I'm sure even in these grim times someone will bite your hand off (which may not be helpful!)
Mike have you checked with the National Trust whether you are allowed to put plastic flowers in? :rotfl:
