Watching DIY SOS the brain cells started pinging, have put the laptop on to confirm what I thought, the story is totally familiar and it is Mike! What a brilliant ending to a terrible tale.
I think, as a MSE lurker, all the posters to this thread should feel really good about themselves and I sincerely hope equally good things happen to you all in 2011.
    :T

    And to you too.

The tale hasn't ended. I need to give karma a hand with the cowboy builder. Any volunteers, specially any lawyers please?

    Cage fighters?

Hope you all had a good christmas. I am spending New Year in the North Sea with alcohol-free beer with the Tigers/ Bears!!

And that... children... is why you must NEVER eat tablets from the medicine cabinet unless Mummy says they're safe.

Mike, I "met" you on another site but we haven't spoken for a while. Just watched the programme. So glad it all turned out so wonderfully!

Bye for now and take care, Tracy

I'm worried now.... was that the 'Kiss my walnut whip' website? Or the other one, you know, about polythene sheets?

Nice to hear from you anyway!

Having now seen the amount of work involved, I can completely understand how overwhelming and soul destroying it must have been, trying to face that alone. I'm so glad things have had a happy ending, life can only get better from here on in for Mike and his boys.

Well done to Mike's Mob, you should all be very proud of yourselves, you're clearly very good people.

    We're very average.

But we know some extraordinary people. Many of them are on here.

    What an amazing hour.

It was an honour and a privilege to be a part of it. Thank you to the BBC, the DIY SOS Team, all the local trades people but most of all the Mike's Mob Team for letting me be a part of it.

SB - remind me... did we ever actually vote on whether to let her be part of it?

House is beautiful Mike! You've got my kitchen sink......for god's sake never pour paint stripper or bleach on it.....not that I've done that on mine. Oh no...not me.

I really, really love that wine glass light.

Stunning. Well done to you and a big well done to Mike's Mob!

Season's greetings to all woofs everywhere.

I wipe it with cooking oil and polish off with kitchen roll. Job done.

Wine glass light almost as popular as the boys.

How to make a grown man cry. Loved the show and you guys deserve it so much. I hope the original builder watched it and seen what he did to a family. Was amazing to see so many people coming together. Mikes mob should be proud. Great to have people like that. Makes me proud. The house looks amazing. Stunning kitchen. Best of luck in the future.

Always with the kitchen... the whole house is gorgeous, thanks to Julia and her little elves.

I think the original builder is a conman and a thief. Amongst other things. He will see this as having absolved him of any wrongdoing. I can hear him now... "Well, you got your house painted, what more do you want?"

    You'll see...
