After the boys, the kitchen was the other thing the laydees on the thread seem a bit struck by!.

Have you kept the house much the same now ?
Almost exactly, apart from the usual detritus of living. I don't think the DIY SOS people would want me to feel I was living in a showhome or a public building. In fact, they said so.
But being a bit of a compulsive cleaner has been a boon. Specially with strangers knocking on the door requesting the full tour...0 -

It's a b*gger. I can't go buy loo roll for all the paps outside!Hi - I registered a long while ago and then found that even looking at posts about debts depressed me so I've not been back... and of course am still in debt!
I've just watched the DIY SOS show that I sky+ and when they talked about you all being forum members I just had to try and find you all! I've been lucky enough to make friends on another forum and the help I've had there has reduced me to tears on more than one occasion. Mike, you've inspired me to try and improve my lot. Your doggedness and your determination to provide a family home for your boys and not to give in or up was so touching. If you could carry on with all that falling about your ears - literally and metaphorically - then I'm sure I can do something about my troubles. Time to stop acting like an ostrich!
I hope you had the most fantastic Christmas and New Year and thanks for inspiring me to do something about my debts. January is going to be hard cos I'm a single parent with a 12 year old son and...well, need I say more about how hard that is at Christmas time even though I work two jobs, but I'm going to scour this site now and try and find a way to sort my life out.
I'm so happy for you Mike and hope that the friendships you've made in here are everlasting
