Well, I spent 4 hours walking in over 80 degrees heat round the city looking and trying on clothes, sweating like a piglet. In that time, all I had was a glass of water. I got home, had a bowl of soup, a meringue (55 cals) and some greek yoghurt. That, apart from a bowl of porridge for breakfast was all I had and guess what, scales this morning tell me I have put on a pound. Now that just shows you how mad this all this, doesnt it!

But Im still down 2lbs on the start of the month.

Hethmar, not eating enough can cause your body to put on weight, effectively your body goes into starvation mode and clings onto any calories it can get, just in case it's a while before it gets any more. That's why often when people do really low calorie diets, they tend to put on far more than they lost as soon as they stop doing it.

Of course, if you were out and about in the heat, you might well just have had a bit of extra fluid retention.

Don't be too disheartened about it - you've made fantastiv progress so far, so I'm sure you'll be back on your downward spiral again just shortly! :D

Yeah, very odd! And even odder is that my real goal (as in to take me to 'normal' BMI) is also about 40ishlbs away!!! I reread my post and realised it sounded like I'm near my goal but I'm not really at all-just setting myself smaller targets on the way to where I want to be and trying not to put pressure on myself to lose 6 stone in one go, because I know I rebel under that kind of pressure :o:rotfl:
So we really are in this together-fab to have someone at a (remarkably!) similar stage to myself and it'll be fab to chivvy each other along as we go! :) Oh, and I started really well on the exercise front (wii fit for an hour a day) and have now slowed down to a stand still! If you get someone to give you that kick up the bum, please will you send them over to me next!

Wow!!!! That's a bit spooky isn't it??:rotfl: I'm kinda the same in that I don't like to put pressure on myself to lose huge amounts of weight, so at the start I set myself 7lb targets and it feels like I've achieved something after every 7lbs lost!:D Now I'm more than half way there though I think it sounds good when I say I've only got 2stone 10lbs to lose! :rotfl: I know that's still quite a bit, but to me it sounds great as I've been majorly overweight for most of my adult life!:D When I get to my target my BMI will still be classed as overweight, but I managed to get down to that weight years ago for a little while, and was happy, but I'll see how it goes when I get there!

Are you noticing your weightloss yet? I know you said before that while other people were noticing you weren't. I was the opposite until last week! I thought I looked dead skinny (:rotfl:) but no one else had said anything, but suddenly everyone has started commenting on my weight loss as though it's happened overnight! I think it's down to wearing more fitted clothes recently.

I was the same with the wii fit at the start!! Now it gets brought out from the back of the telly once a week when I weigh myself!:o I'm still not any further forward with the exercising, but know I'll need to start it soon if I want to look toned when I'm slim!:D

Hope you're doing well this week.:T

Thanks, that's probably what it was.

I really should buy my own scales.

I weigh myself weekly on my wii fit now, but before I had that I used to go to boots every week and use their scales. It's 50p and you get a wee print out, which I liked as I used to keep them in my diary and look back to see how well I'd been doing!:D

I done that as I was a nightmare for weighing myself everyday(usually about 5 times a day!!) and getting disheartened when the scales were going up and down all the time! Thankfully I weaned myself off the scales and can mostly just stick to once a week now!

Remember to measure yourself with a tape measure too, as sometimes you don't see a loss on the scales, but you've lost inches!:money:

    Hey my weight-loss twin!! :rotfl:

If I'm honest I'm not noticing too much, although everybody commenting now is starting to make me realise it's true! :D:rotfl:I went shopping on Saturday for some clothes for my hol and was merrily picking up size 14s, knowing they were going to fit and they did!:D It's such a great feeling isn't it? I'm the same in that I know I still have a while to go to 'goal' but am only a stone away from my wedding weight and I really did feel fantastic then so once I get past that all the rest will be a bonus (or that's what I keep telling myself to take the pressure off!)
I'm stuck on the weighing myself 5 times a day lark that you had at the beginning unfortunately! You're so right-it makes me so mad when it dares to say I've put a lb on when I know I haven't really! :rotfl:I need to stop that really but am not sure I will :o
I'm doing well this week again-think it'll be a 2lb loss again when I weigh in tomorrow morning. Have you found it slowing down to about 2lbs a week now? At the beginning it was so quick but despite doing the same things I'm just losing the 2lbsish per week. I'm not complaining about that as I know it's healthy but just wonder if you've found the same?

    How's your week been?

    May I join in please?

I have just started trying to lose weight since the beginning of the month. I eat fairly healthily but do absolutely no exercise :o

I need to lose 36lbs in total to be at a healthy weight, so I am aiming for 7lb this month.

I have started walking to and from the station to work everyday (1.5miles each way), doing an exercise video and making more use of the wii fit.

But after all that my weight after the first week was exactly the same

I'm hoping I will see changes soon and joining this group might help motivate me too!

Weighed in, 1st time this month............... gained 3lb :(

Not a happy bunny, haven't changed anything at all. I've been really good. :(
  • it's oh so quiet.........

Well done on all of the massive losses people seem to be having! Oh, and very big (((HUGS))) to those who need them! :D

My diet has been horrendous since Friday! I knew that Friday and Saturday were out of the window, but A. Flo popped by on Sunday (for the first time since I had an op in January), and it's been a particularly horrendous visit, so my eating habits have been all over the place! My running buddy (or running coach is probably a more accurate description!), has cancelled for tonight, and with the way I'm feeling, there's just no way I'll go out by myself tonight!

I'll need to try be extra good for the rest of the week to make up for it!

Do any of you work in an office? I'm doing a really boring temping job in a reception over the summer, which means I'm sat on my backside all day - do any of you do any sort of exercises at your desk?? or would everyone be too worried that someone would see and they'd look a fool?

Hope you're all having a better start to the week than me!

    xx

You should take pics then you'll notice! I'd read people on another forum saying it's a good way to get your head to catch up with your body and not still see yourself as the way you were when you started. When my OH took my first set of pics (front, back and side shots!) I was devastated! I knew I was fat, but I couldn't believe how bad I looked, especially from the back! Maybe that's why I've managed to stay motivated this long!:rotfl: Now I get him to take pics every 4 weeks and I wear the same clothes every time and I can deffo see a difference!

Well done on having a good week!:T Mine has been goos too, but it's my TOM, so I'm not expecting much this week. I tend to stay the same, then have a decent loss the following week! My weight loss has been a bit erratic! Sometimes I lose nothing, then I'll lose 6lbs overnight! It's strange!
