New attacks on I.B claimants

Ive been on IB for 4 years now so obviously the DWP deem me to be ill enough to not have to work.
I'm also on DLA MRC &n LRM so they also deem me ill enough to have substantial care needs.
Ive already proved myself to the relevant authorities & until the relevant authorities decide that i'm not entitled to my benefits I suggest that you go get yourselves lives.
Life is too short to be bitter towards people that you deem not worthy & it is ironic seeing as you are supposedly carers/disabled yourselves that you have absoloutely no apathy towards other ill/disabled people.
I am not going to jump through hoops defending myself to you as I don't have to, the relevant people know of my problems & sadly you are not relevant.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

So say we all! I'm so tired of these people. I have been on IB, then DLA since I was 17 for excellent reasons, and even though they ask me to prove it again and again, and it wears me out, I can still do it because I am this sick. I'm tired of having to prove it to the DWP and ATOS - I shouldn't have to prove it to the idiots on this forum who don't believe anyone under 50 can have substantial health problems unless they have seen it! None of us should.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
Funny the government also do not believe all the people presently on IB and DLA are too sick to work either. Which is what this whole thread is about. People who do not think they should have to prove that they truly are not in a position to work.0

I think you will find that the majority of us are just worried how the medicals are going to be carried out ie whether they will be properly medically trained/know about your specific condition & the impact it will have on our health.
I realise that the system is open to fraud but I have had medicals/tribunals already so know that I am entitled already.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

When I claimed IB, I had to prove my incapacity. It was quite a battle, and took a lot out of me. In the end, I proved my case.
When I claimed DLA, I was initially refused. I appealed - with help. (I wouldn't have had the physical or mental strength to appeal on my own). When I was awarded DLA (both components, lower rate), it was an indefinite award as they accepted my condition was never going to improve.
Now I have to go through the whole process again for both IB and DLA.
Every time I prove that I am too ill to work, I hope that maybe I will be believed. ASD is with me for life. I will never recover from it. And then the government go and move the goalposts and demand more tests, more proof. And I'd be happy to undergo a yearly medical for my benefit - if it was by a qualified doctor specialising in my condition.
Honestly, look at my life. I used to work. I enjoyed it. I was also rather good at my work, I ran my own department. Now I am waiting to be moved into a small one-bedroomed groundfloor flat. ...I can no longer cope with stairs. I get Housing Benefit - for which I am grateful, but I would love to be able to have a place large enough for my sister to visit., it's never going to happen. I struggle to get by on benefits. Again, I am grateful to get them, but they hardly allow me to pay for the basics - and every penny of my DLA goes on things that are necessary to help me stay independent as long as possible......Give me the chance and I would go back to work tomorrow. And not just as Head of Department. I would do anything....but the sad fact is I can't do anything.
Why do people think I would choose this life? The money I get from benefits is barely enough to get by. My self esteem takes a battering every time I fall over and need my pensioner mum to pick me up; every time I realise I need help to go out and buy a pint of milk; every time I remember the life I used to have......It's a struggle to stay positive some days!
Not everyone on benefits is defrauding the system....most of us are honest people, genuinely too ill to work.
Not everyone on benefits receive thousands a week in benefit money...most of us are struggling to get by.
If the government were serious about making sure the genuinely ill were looked after, they would ensure that the tests for benefits were carried out by fully qualified medical experts. Instead of which, the tests are carried out by clerks with limited medical knowledge and a seriously flawed computer program, and with a bonus payed for everyone signed off as 'fit for work'.
The government only care about money - not about supporting those in need.0 -

I understand that this commonly held view is incorrect.
If the government only cared about money and not about supporting people in need then I doubt the Welfare State would be paying out more to benefit claimants than is received in Income Tax revenues0
