i was absolutely wiped out and fit for nothing for my first 2 days off. Didn't mean I shouldn't have gone to work in the first place.
How is that comparable? I have a miedcal condition that causes extreme tiredness. I have been told by many people (and have had someone apologise because she thought she woke me) that I look shattered - yet I've only been awake for 4 hours - that's even with 10 hours sleep.Sealed pot challenge #232. Diabetes can cause other complications.Clearly blisters and the like can't possibly qualify for sickness benefits, but the fault lies with a system which allows such nonsense.

Epidermolysis bullosa. A Canadian friend of mine has it, and I can assure you that it causes more problems than 'just' the blistering. Skin is the largest organ in the body - when something that big goes wrong with it, it affects everything else. She is on heavy painkillers for her condition, and she has a lot of extra needs because of it. (Complicated, and I don't want to go into it here, as it's not really on topic for the thread.)

Mmm, my MIL had diabetes, very poorly lady ~ however the quoted example claims one daily insulin injection, implying no other problems. Lots and lots of diabetics manage their diabetes and hold down jobs ~ my history teach was diabetic, he had 2 hypos resulting in leaving early twice during 5 yrs of education.
Re. blisters, there's a difference between the condition described and the 'blisters' reported; of course, no journalist would ever stretch the truth to increase moral outrage..............;)I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I'm sure, but we can only really respond with the information given ~ as can those who make decisions re. DLA/IB, so presumably they had enough info to make their decision accordingly.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. And unless he is bed ridden he may be able to do some work and fail the medical, they have changed the rules.
I'm not bed ridden but I can't leave the house unaccompanied.
I wouldn't be able to go to work unless someone I know came with me with & sat with me all day.
I would probably be able to get to work for 3pm as I suffer from insommnia but my kids come out of school at 3.15pm so I would need to get home for 3.30pm as 2 of my kids are autistic & can't be left alone.
I'd be happy to go to work if my employer could meet all my needs & I could earn enough money to support my family.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

I used to work 12 hour night shifts too.
4 nights on/4 night off & once a month you had to do an extra shift so 5 nights on/3 nights off.
I'd spend my 1st day off asleep as did most people that worked there.
I think sh is referring to her eye condition making her tired not that work would make her tired as obviously work makes everyone tired especially if you do a physical job.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

On the subject of shifts - I think generally the idea of being too exhausted to function afterwards is more like if you're like me - I would work two eight-hour days one after the other, but wasn't able to do anything but sleep and eat in between, and then I would be unable to function for the best part of a week afterward, and still pretty wiped even after that. It's one of the reasons I had to give up my job.
It's not like 5 nights on, 5 nights off and you can't do anything for 2 days - it's like 5 nights on, 5 nights off and you can't do anything for the whole 5 days you're off. Or longer. Because that's what chronic fatigue is like.
