Yeh, it's a bit harsh and i kind of sympathise with you.

I think if i was in the same situation, i would be also a tad bit annoyed.

Are you planning on posting this on every thread that mentions Android? Are you that insecure about your choice of phone that you have to try and attack anyone hwo doesn't agree?

and have you missed the fact that Apple routinely delete apps from the Apps store without rhyme or reason??? The difference is that on Android you don't need to use the Marketplace to get apps, any fool can knock up a website (via Wordpress) and deliver apps straight to your phone. Google can control what is on their servers but not what is on mine or others. I am free to download anything I want for the Android, the same can't be said for Apple....

(NB I have a jailbroken Iphone 3G currently, with a HTC Desire on order)

I have had both iphone 3GS and currently have a desire...Desire kicks its backside, simply for the fact that I can knock up my own apps, which I cant do for apple without having to go through a 6 month process of approval, only to find that by the time it is approved, someone elses app is up and running.

I am fully aware of how Android works as I have Desire, I've never had an iPhone but jimbms seems to get very upset if anyone criticises the iPhone and has posted the same point on several threads.

I got the Desire early April and still now Love it now, it's Defo the best phone. I would have an Iphone but I refuse to pay the price for one.

My deal is with VF on £30 a month which includes 900 minutes, unlimited texts (3000) and unlimited data. The issue I have is that the unlimited data allocation. Vodafone changed their rules on unlimited data and introduced a stringent fair usage policy which is around 500mb per month. I haven't used that amount though I would if I hadn't reduced the updates frequency for Twitter, News & Weather apps, etc. I'm also using an application called 3G watchdog that allows you to set your limit for a month after your billing date then you can watch it how much you use over that period.

The OP mentioned 1GB allowance, but I'm sure VF don't offer this deal with the HTC Desire, only the 500mb deal. Oh - I'm wrong just checked before posting and it seems they now do. I want mine changed now - that's a bit unfair.

With regards the Battery, sometimes I can struggle to see the day out but that's when I give it a good bashing during the day. I need to be better at switching WIFI off during the data as unfortunately don't have access to this at work.

If you signed up for a 500mb fair use policy Mobile Internet package then you just keep using it as you would.

Vodafone are not charging customers who use more than 500mb a month. THey will text you to let you know that you are over your allowance, and then they MAY contact you by phone to suggest that you move to a different tariff.

You are not obligated to do so, and then they will notify you that you will be charged and give you 14 days notice before it takes effect.

At this point if you are not happy with this and the charge (minimum £5 a month) will put increase your usual bill amount by 10% or more then you will be entitled to cancel that contract, without penalty.

Remember that you are not changing anything, Vodafone are.

This change is affecting all customers, not just the tiny % who are using many gigabytes a month who Vodafone claim the changes are aimed at.

I'd prefer not to be recommending this course of action to you, but Vodafone are trying to take people for a ride.

Many people were tempted by T-Mobile due to the 3gb limit, over which your connection is throttled not charged, but Vodafone sold it as a soft limit, and that they would only think about charging heavy users, now it is going to be EVERYONE over 500mb a month who continues to do so.
