HTC Desire
Dear all,
Hope all is well,
I'm currently on o2 and due for my upgrade however wanted to go for iphone but it's some what expensive and the teething problems doesn't seem to do anything good for it.
I rang up vodafone they offered me the below on a new number.
900 mins unlimited texts and 1gb internet for £30 for 24 month contract usuallly its £35. I have a friend who works for vodafone and he gets 30% off so that would bring it to around £21 a month.
I still have my o2 contract which has 3 months left. ive dropped it to £10 a month,
Question i had,
is the HTC Desire good, i want Flash Andriod seem to trump Apple in some aspects besides the app store.
Is the above deal good, i know 02 wont offer any good deals, any recommendations for home broanband, or could i get the o2 number replaced to pay and go so i can continue get ting the discount.
Can i port a number 3 months in to a contract, does anyone know how long is the early upgrade on vodafone.
I'm reluctant to move from 02 as tey wont offer good deals which sucks. Or do you think i should look at iphone 3GS?
Does the desire come with free GPS??? turn by turn.
Any suggestions, do oyou think i should try and get freebies e.g. cards, chargers, case etc??
Look forward to response.

The Desire is very good.
Google Navigation is available for it which is a free turn by trun Sat Nav system but it downloads maps as you use it so it will eat into your data allowance. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Sounds like a good deal...like you say, the Desire is going for around £30/35 a month over 2 years so with that discount...brill!0

The app store is nothing to be worried about. Apple may have 200k apps but most of them will never be used.
My HTC is packed with apps such as London Journey which helps plan a journey by rail, bus etc and gives you timetables, delays and the like, Catch that bus which gives you bus stops in your local area, where they go and at what time along with BBC News, Sky News, Sports apps, other travel apps such as National Rail and various apps to give you news on the roads and many many more.
A little trick to get all the uk dedicated apps is to simply type in UK in the search bar on market and it brings all dedicated uk apps up for you.
The deal you put above is very very good.!0 -
I have a desire and its lovely. I have bbc iplayer on it, facebook, sat nav, and other such apps, as well as some job specific (EG port scanning, ip tracing, PING etc). The app store on apple houses approximately 8'000 original apps, the rest are copies of copies of copies. Also the bonus with android, if you are good at coding, you can create your own app, and run it, which you CANNOT do on any apple product.

Dear all,
Many thanks for the response,
The guy i spoke to seems to change his deals and mind very easily, he apparently said i wanted the htc mini which i didn't ask for.
However if i get the £35 tariff i can still get a 30% discount so it aint too bad!
Desire/ Iphone 3GS ahh decisions decisions!!!0 -
Just be wary of what Vodafone offers you... you might find that they sign you up to something totally different! Also, the Desire is currently out of stock at VF, they are "awaiting the next batch" with no indication of when that might happen, the chances are that most of these will be allocated to the many people who already have backorders. And my personal advice: stay with O2 - was with them for ages and switched to VF last year, I have no problems with signal etc but customer service is abysmal and their online account management is next to useless. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Signal is the most important....when you don't have that...you realise!0 -
And that's why when I renew my blackberry, I'll be sticking with O2!
*(I got my desire on the £10 TMobile contract, but the signal is never any where as good as the 02 one!)0 -
however , unless you switch everything off your battery will last about half a day !Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Many thanks to all with your responses,
Id love to with 02 but they are a bag of rubbish with their deals.
Just out of interest, orange are doing a great deal with the desire on £35 contract.
I'm getting bored that many networks dont have the phone so i may just go for a iphone 3GS is that a wise decision.
I don't think i will watch videos on a website or look at flash content, any ideas??0
