Many thanks to all with your responses,

Id love to with 02 but they are a bag of rubbish with their deals.

Just out of interest, orange are doing a great deal with the desire on £35 contract.

I'm getting bored that many networks dont have the phone so i may just go for a iphone 3GS is that a wise decision.

I don't think i will watch videos on a website or look at flash content, any ideas??

All the deals I see for all the phones nowadays are pretty much identical.

In terms of the battery, download a free app called Juice Defender. It extends my battery life by 39%. (If you buy the full version - which I may do next week) it can extend the battery life up to 300%.

however , unless you switch everything off your battery will last about half a day !

No it won't. I have auto brightness on, WiFi is permanently on and I have regular updates to twitter, email etc. I get at least a day out of mine. If I don't use it much it lasts a couple of days.

I ordered my Desire online, and I got it 6 days later. Even the guys in the VF shop were surprised, but apparently that's the quickest way to get one. All new stock is set for online orders first and then any left over are passed to the stores...

I got the Desire early April and still now Love it now, it's Defo the best phone. I would have an Iphone but I refuse to pay the price for one.

My deal is with VF on £30 a month which includes 900 minutes, unlimited texts (3000) and unlimited data. The issue I have is that the unlimited data allocation. Vodafone changed their rules on unlimited data and introduced a stringent fair usage policy which is around 500mb per month. I haven't used that amount though I would if I hadn't reduced the updates frequency for Twitter, News & Weather apps, etc. I'm also using an application called 3G watchdog that allows you to set your limit for a month after your billing date then you can watch it how much you use over that period.

The OP mentioned 1GB allowance, but I'm sure VF don't offer this deal with the HTC Desire, only the 500mb deal. Oh - I'm wrong just checked before posting and it seems they now do. I want mine changed now - that's a bit unfair.

With regards the Battery, sometimes I can struggle to see the day out but that's when I give it a good bashing during the day. I need to be better at switching WIFI off during the data as unfortunately don't have access to this at work.

Congratulations. I don't think they've actually started shipping them with LCD screens yet so you should have an AMOLED.
