Toilet Roll Argument

  • A true MSE wouldn't use loo roll full stop! :D
  • The luxury stuff doesn't even feel that different! Honestly, are all you women sucked in by slick advertising / brainwashing and a bit of fancy packaging?
No- it's just companies are very good at marketing and creating brand loyalty (e.g. heinz beans are better, luxury items which cost more must be better because you get what you pay for).
Tried to point out the economy and common sense of it but my wife and daughter were having none of it so I've bought some for myself to prove to them that it's not such a hardship
Good for you- suggest to them you try it for a month etc- show them threads on site where people put luxury stuff etc down loo and it blocked the toilet resulting large plumbing bill- don't ever lie or mislead your wife- e.g. putting cheap loo roll on roll and claiming it's the expensive one- can be one step down a slippery road and can be patronising, hurtful and can draw wedge between you. wife may think you're treating like a child if you do this- she's a grown woman. try not to argue over loo roll (easier said than done). as comprimise buy mixture of both (if wife won't budge).

If you are dissatisfied with Tesco Value Toilet Paper, then you can always return the used product, showing the defects (I would reccomend that you use a strong sealed plastic bag) and I am sure you will get a full refund, or the offer of a 2 for 1 replacement:rolleyes:

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    LOL.

The luxury stuff tends to be a bit softer and less likely to rip IMHO

A bit less likely to rip?!

I would never have thought that this could be a problem, unless you're using it to tow a car. :p

Now there's an experiment for a quiet weekend...how many streams of tesco toilet roll would it take to pull a ford fiesta?

We buy Asda "shades" paper as we've found that it's actually better value. I only need three squares to wipe with as you can fold it over and use the other side but you can't with the value or smartprice brands with which you use almost three times as much. We also use it for other things other than wiping and we've found that it is very absorbent which is handy when you have an elderly incontinent dog.

Not that toilet paper is cunningly designed to disolve in water and newspaper is not. If you clog up your drains it could prove very expensive.

  • We've just completed extensive scintific research on this very subject.

Mr MM insisted 'loads of people buy value loo roll, it must be pretty damm good', so we purchased said item and I thought it was crap. Quite frankly, he was taking the pi$$.

So we have gone back to Andrex. It's generally on 12 for 9 or if we are really lucky we find sellotaped up one on the reductions. We're not fussy on the colour either.
