even though i have a few packs of toilet rolls.... i still want to use and buy in an econoical way......
my kids dont know the meaning of use sparing ... so they used to have along long...strip of loo roll... which was a total waste......
then i read some where.. that if you squosh.. the loo roll so its flat... the sheets will brake after 2 or 3.. so then the kids can not mimick the andrex adverts......whick i find really does work.... my loo rolls are now lasting longer...:D
also do you find buying cheap is a false economy ? no fills etc....
if there is no offer i buy the shops own brand, but not the cheapest...but if there is an offer on a branded loo roll.....bogof...or intro offer.. then i will buy that....
what do you do... how do you save money on your loo rolls..?

is there one brand that you def... save money on... or are they much of a muchness...?
are we taking thrift.. os moneysaving too far..with loo rolls ?
do you think i better get a life rather than worrying how much i can save on my loo rolls ?
sorry if the subject of loo rolls have been a topic for a thread before.....
but i was thinking.. it is in every household.....everyone buys it ( or aquires it from other sources )......
so theis could be n area where we could save some pennies...when we spend a penny

Loo roll saving is one of the things that I find myself wondering about quite a lot so I obviously havn't got a life either. I buy the cheapest ones but I also wonder if it is a false economy. I also flatten them so they don't roll when your using them.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

In deepest darkest africa i am sure they don't have loo rolls and i am also sure they don't all go around with filthy backsides. I can't comment on what they do do specifically but it's an idea....
Some cultures use water primarily to wash away urine rather than just wipe it.
OK a really gross thought but here goes - for No.1's use water & a cloth, wash the cloth. Save loo roll for No.2's.
Probably easier just to stick to spending a fortune on loo rolls....0 -
I suggested my DD squashed her loo rolls as her 18 month old DS kept going into the bathroom & doing a good impression of an andrex puppy. She was surprised at how effective it was and also how much less loo paper they all used.

yippie..i 'm not the only one....who thinks about savings on loo rolls....:j
black-saturn... i tried using the cheapest.. loo rolls... 54p ish for a pack of 4...one thing they didnt last very long...but i never flattened them.. plus i found that they didnt flush very well.....so even though my water isnt on a meter....i was still wasting water with more flushes.....
also the rolls look big but...they are not wraped on the roll very tight... so its an optical illusion that they are big rolls..
also after a while i found that my "bits" were getting sore.....
zziggi.......i dont know what to say on that one...
also with the no 1's... would it end up more expensive by the time you wash the cloth outWork to live= not live to work0 -
We buy the sainsburies own brand, or the andrex if on offer. I definitely find the economy ones false economy. At the end of the day we are out all day, so the 12/16 loo rolls last us at least a month, so I'd rather get something nicer than use more cheap stuff.0

I also squash my loo rolls, i dont buy value as they really do seem a false economy. What i do do is buy extra loo rolls when they are on special offer (BOGOF, 12 for 9 etc), my airing cupboard is always full of loo rolls!!!!!0

Another vote here for not buying the cheapest. We found that because the sheet size is smaller we used more sheets, and it was definately a slightly rougher texture too. We do a big supermarket "non perishables" shop about every 2 months and very rarely have to buy our preferred brand when it isn't "12 for the price of 9".
(Why do I only find out about squashing toilet rolls when my DSs are 17 and 20?)0 -
I don'tbuy the cheapest as its false economy. But if you go for shops ownbrand, Shades in Asda for example then if you buy BOGOF you can usually pay 25p a roll, thats my rule of thumb.0

I use nouvelle. always buy it on offer. great quality and recycled. farmfoods ususaly have it at 99p for 4 rolls.

I go to the cash and carry and get 48 rolls for £4.79. These are the cheapest make but do the job. We found that we get through loo roll at a vast rate of knots and it doesnt matter whether is good or cheap stuff. The trick of folding the roll has help slightly but i think its the shear number of toliet stops that causes it to run out quickly.0
