Hi I don't have any ideas on saving loo roll, but if you happen to have a costco card, in their latest passport of deals that theyve just sent out double velvet loo rolls only work out at 17p a roll.
    Well worth stocking up on!!

It doesn't matter to me, Calley. One of my neighbours clips his poodles and flushes the hair down the jakes, so the plumbers come to the Albany quite often. If I block the drains with kitchen paper, I just blame it on the chap with the poodles.

    What a prat.

But it will not help to blame him if the blockage is your side rather on the shared drain system.

  • My other half uses half a roll in the pan to stop "splashbacks" then uses half of whats left to wipe, i even think he wipes after every evacuation if you know what i mean, i just wait till its all out then wipe with a dry bit and then with a dampened piece. makes me so mad, so lazy to lift his bum 6 inches off the seat to avoid the splash

  • i am down to my last pack of 12 loo rolls now so will have to start hunting for the offers...

but i have noticed that by flattening the loo roll does save..... as we are not going through them as quick....so i think its can be classed as a def.. money saving idea..

now i just have to find out where the best buys are...

  • I have a heck of a time doing cost-comparison on loo roll! It's not like the packaging gives you square inches to compare for price. I go mainly by hefting the pack... how heavy is the roll should = how much paper you're getting. Honestly, I think the really cheap stuff is a waste of money. You'll go through it much faster and not really save much. What I buy is the nicer store brand - the stuff meant to compete with the P&G brand (whatever it's called over here.) You get good quality - a nice full roll - but don't pay stupid prices. I'm not interested in quilting or color-coordination or even softness. I just want plenty of paper on a roll.

Thanks for the tip on flattening the roll! I've seen dispensers in public restrooms that seem to operate on a similar principle... they are oblong rather than round and so don't allow for a fast yank that sets it spinning.

  • Being rather regular with my toilet habits (first thing in the morning after a cuppa), have a quick wipe and then a fastidious shower. Works for me!

I generally buy Lidl's recycled stuff as mentioned in a previous post on this thread.

Sainsbury's have a half price offer on Charmin double length rolls at the mo. £1.69 for the equivalent of 8 ordinary rolls.

I'm like Reese Witherspoon's character in that film (senior moment can't remember the title - something to do with pink) only charmin will do

We use the cheapest we can find (Lidl/Sainsburys) - about 10p/roll, and we don't use that much. It's definitely an area where we've made a huge saving.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

After much sampling I dont think you can beat Andrex, cheap stuff is awful and I find I use more od it so its false economy. I always look for special offers to make my money go further. have to admit that with 3 men in the house I'm the worse culprit!:o
