OH got insta-accepted for a Barclaycard Initial tonight after the pre-check suggested he had a 70-80% chance of being accepted if he applied.

His application for a Barclays bank account is still awaiting a decision, however I would imagine they will say yes considering they accepted him for a credit card- Barclaycard still say no to me (on the precheck) but I can have a bank account.

7 weeks until that damned o2 default drops off, then I can try again. My file might even be deemed good enough for a full Barclaycard, you never know!

Why don't you try your arm at applying for a Barclaycard. They search Equifax only for applications. While Barclays search Experian, may be a try even if the pre checker said no.

What does your OH have on his credit files?

Being accepted for a barclaycard does not mean acceptance for a barclays bank account, they operate completely separately and they could still refuse him the bank account

What does your OH have on his credit files?

He has 2 accounts showing 6 months in arrears (British Gas being one of them, the other being Provident but the've not updated in nearly 2 months so not sure what's going on there- real life situation much improved though).

    No defaults, no CCJs.

Around £3k of credit, using around £1800 of it.

All other accounts are a perfect sea of green zeros.

    An update of mine:

£1k of credit using around £600
1 default for £111 which is 5 years and 11 months old.
4 one month late payment markers on Orange in 2009 (non consecutive)
5 one month payment markers with Provident (same issue as with OH except my balance is much lower so has only ever has one month behind showing as 2 months worth = more than the o/s balance. Basically we've had huge issues with our agent and now have a new one. This was sorted at the end of April-ish but has yet to be reflected in our credit files. I have lodged a complaint.

Everything else is a sea of green also.

Therefore, the only differences between our reports when you boil it down is the default on mine and the higher amount of credit limits on his.

OH, Provident do not report to my Equifax report, only Experian, so I think once the default goes next month all should be groovy.

Tried to apply and it came back with "we need more information before we can decide"

    *UPDATE*

Phoned the given number this morning and asked what info they wanted. The guy told me the application is with the review team and he couldn't check but I'll get a letter in a week or so. No details were asked for from me. Guess I'll have to wait (and I hate waiting!)

I think it'll depend on whether they've searched EX and EQ for your application or just EQ. Barclaycard always search EQ, but sometimes search EX also.

There's no search on Experian as yet. Can't confirm what's on Equifax as their inadequate system will only let you see one version of your report per day. I will have to have a look tomorrow (I checked my reports just before I applied to see if there was anything new on there.)

While I'm at it, I'm getting a bit fed up with how slow things are updating lately on the files.

A&L (both accounts), Vanquis and Provident haven't updated since mid-May.
