Just a quick update, Barclays have accepted me for a proper bank account with them . Got all the forms to sign and return today.

    Bye bye A&L

I am a bit dissapointed by A&L. They refused to match my overdraft. Frankly speaking they refused to give me any O/D.

Their on-line banking does not appear very nice to me.

Therefore when I get my 100 pound cashback I suppose I will move again.

If anyone can tell me - is the cashback taxed or not?

Darn, that's a pretty good offer.

As far as I am aware it isn't but then, I'm still new to getting credit rather than laughed at so somebody else might contradict me there :)

Bloody hell!! Hope it's not a decline!!!
If so will send a detailed appeal, pictures, dimensions etc and if necessary will drive to head office in Leeds to plead my case.
In the meantime I'm off to bed to dream about cruising down the M621 with a 'hottie' sat on the backseat of my coach, waiting, hoping and munching seductively on a bar of Galaxy :p;):p

My 5 pound monthly cashback at Halifax is pretaxed at 20% rate for sure.

I had their old offer a couple of years ago when it was £25 each for the recommend a friend thing. There was no tax taken from that so I doubt the £100 would be either.

However, if you do self assessment tax returns it may have to be declared. I'm not sure if it is classed as a gift or not, but it is not "interest" so not earned so not taxed (I think I just answered this question lol).
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.
