I don't think 6 years is excessive,an an ex bankrupt I accept that I have had to re educate myself financially and not having credit of any kind has really disciplined me.
I have no issue with the 6 years

Just think that after that it should go away
Does that mean I wouldn't be able to get a job & live in australia or america ever ? :-(

I won the nigerian lottery earlier today and was hoping to go LOL

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.

Off topic here. A couple of days ago, i applied for BMI MNBA Amex CC and was accepted after spoken to the MBNA underwriter for 4K CL 16.9%. I just wanted to know if MBNA's credit scoring benchmark is varied depending on the cards? The underwriter did asked about my credit history and asked me what are the circumstances for missing 3 payments on Vodafone mobile account that was settled in Oct 2004 (5 and a half years ago). So i guess MBNA do search back full 6 years.

You will have to declare your previous b/r to ever work in finance, law, accounting, banking, civil service, immigration, mod - pretty much any industry that is regulated or goverment based

as for immigration, yea you can but in aus it goes against you and they have been known to reject people cos of it.... you never got spammed with a winner did you?

Quick, send them your bank details and watch them scam you - hehe - they think we're daft, really they do! They are 15yrs behind us in technology and brains by all accounts! :rotfl:

Mate all lenders use risk for rate - its the norm. So the better your score, the better the limit and rate.

They will search back 6yrs cos you got referred - that is standard mate, why did you get referred? Cos you were marginal.... so say pass score is 120+ and Decline is 80 or less, say you scored 90 - it'd be a refer..... that's how they do it (in a simple to explain format)

Just wondering Nid what caused the referral? Due to the 3 late payments (1,2 and 3) from vodafone account settled Oct 2005? Or is this irrelevant as it is too long ago and perhaps other info that caused it to refer? MBNA are known to be quite strict anyway right?

No mate those were not noticed at the time, it was referred cos you never passed and never failed - you just never scored enough for a pass so it requires manual intervention.

also high prime cards (like amex) only like 3 searches in 6 months - more than this can cause referral in which case a full search (6yr) is always performed......

I thought you needed a few months to raise at least 10% deposit, so no point asking for a mortgage if deposit not in the bank....on top you need a survey, solicitor, agency fee...probably another 2k at least on top.
