    hi
My hubby has a Halifax 0 per cent card, last month he paid the balance of £1300 off in full - so I was flabbergasted when he got turned down online first for a Tesco credit card and then for a vanquis card!!! (I applied on his behalf as I wanted to earn cashback. )
I have only this month gotten myself out of debt after 5 years of paying repayment plans to capital one amongst many others, I applied for Vanquis and got a 'maybe' with a decision to follow
Maybe it hasnt helped that we have moved house twice in the last year but we immediately put ourselves on the electoral register both times within the 1st week of moving ....we have really been trying to build our ratings up..no late or missed payments for the last 5 years, we both have mobile contracts etc and dont apply for credit very much , has anyone any thoughts . I thought my hubby paying off his Halifax would have been great for his rating

Applied to open a US Dollar account with citi and they came back asking for a bill etc so sent them one and got a letter back with the bill and 4 days letter got another letter saying i was declinded due to no response and i havent replied to them also they made 3 searches for same product.

I am about to write a letter to RBS now and post it 2mo aswell

Haha no old boys club here. :p

Have you checked your credit reports from Equifax and Experian?

That is the best place to start, to find out why your being declined/referred.

In relation itnot of updated the status of his account yet, it can take 6 weeks to update these things. I think obtaining a copy of your credit files with help you in making a n opinion, instead it's all supposition. :)

    :D

nope but looks like i need to......

I did go to annualcreditreport.co.uk but they said there was a problem with matching my address details and they could not access my files at this time so will do manually in the next week or 2

I did check with experian and equifax about a yr ago at old address with free trial but if I reactivate it will charge me full price?

I was surprised that my hubby has paid off his Halfax 0 oer cent credit card and then refused the vanquis more than anything especially since Ive not got a flat refusal from them and his rating should be better than mine
