Applied for a Barclaycard Initial last week for the hell of it and just got an email saying I've got it with a £800 credit limit :O

It's a Visa too so that might be useful to have as a bit of variety. I've got the Halifax card but have only reached £300 once and possibly again this month, so I may just use the Barclaycard and contactless wherever I can in months where I know I won't reach £300 on Halifax.

Can't understand why they approve me now but totally ignored my application in June!

    Well done Zack1!

Just thought I'd drop by and say hey,

Had a letter from Creation today to say

    Great news!
We've recently review your MyWorld MasterCard account and as one of your most valued cardholders we would like to give you extra spending power by increasing your credit limit.

    Current Limit
    £1,690.00

    New Limit
    £2,190.00

Well thanks, Creation. Nice to know that some creditors like me :o

Won't use it, just sits in a drawer really but still. Good. I guess. Wonder if they'll do the same with my Silver card (which I've had for longer...)

    Either way.
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Zack do you not have to wait 6 months between applications for barclays ? i got 80 to 90% chance and still got rejected.

I'm thinking maybe the one in June wasn't a 6 month gap, so it disregarded it completely - hence not even bothering to communicate with me! But now there has been a gap between this and the previous one and so they've assessed me again?

I got told 70 to 80 or 80 to 90% every time, stupid website! For a gold card too, I only went for initial though, didn't want to push my luck.... looking at my 29.9% APR, it looks like my decision was justified!

As for my PIN, that doesn't seem to have reached me yet though! I think I'll actually use Barclaycard for everything when it does arrive, as quite a few pub/restaurant chains seem to be on their reward programme, could be more lucrative than taking £5 from Halifax every now and again! - It's £550 less credit than Halifax, but that will only affect me if one statement is particularly large, as if I know that's going to happen, I'd use Halifax that month anyway to grab the fiver!

Think I'm starting to get things on track now. after trashing my credit reports with loads of searches when I turned 18 and getting declined for everything, i'm starting to get some credit now and make the repairs.

I now have a Granite Vanquis card with a £500 limit. and after reading this thread thought I'd apply for a Capital One Classic. and to my surprise they accepted me instantly online. so waiting to get the card and see what credit limit I get.

I pay off the Granite by DD in full every month, and intend to do the same with the Cap1, really want to start stringing these 0's up on experian.

Also have a Cash Plus Creditbuilder and 14 months into a contract phone with 3 never missed a payment on either. So hopefully in 6 months to a year's time, things wil be looking pretty good!

I have also applied for a Barclays Initial, they say they'll be in touch. Not holding out too much hope for that one

I got Barclaycard Intial with a £800 limit last December and they also gave me 6.9 APR for Balance transfers and 29.9 Apr for purchases.

I also have the Capital One card and they are still doing the free Equifax alerts and I have not be told that they are stopping them.
  • Sygma just upped my Flybe card limit from £1500 to £1900 .. they seem to like me well enough for some reason.

They may stop when it comes to renewal (so in the month you initially signed up for them). I'm leaving mine but not using it, just in case! I've got this new noddle thing though, but would rather see the Equifax ones than that!

What are they like with limit increases?

I had my barclaycard since December so nearly a year and I have not had a credit increase yet.

I pay on time every month as soon as my statement is produced and pay interest on my balance transfer which is 6.9 for the life of balance.

Have you asked for one? There's an area on the Barclaycard site to do that.
