Any help or advice would be appreciated.
I have recently been discharged but need some funds for a deposit for rented accomodation. Is it at all possible to get a loan to fund this.
I got a quote on my LTSB internet banking which quoted 29% apr (£1000 loan over 3 years @ £39 monthly) but did not have the bottle to apply as i dont want to damage my already tarnished credit rating.
How long should I leave it before applying for any type of credit, such as mobile, CC and loans etc.?0 -

Dunno
Does your Lloyds internet banking display any credit offers eg "as an existing customer we could offer a loan up to £XXXX" ?
I've never applied for a loan in my life
I have used credit cards and overdrafts to borrow
You have a Vanquis card , they sent blank cheques - in your position I would use one of those and balance transfer to another card
£1000 isn't a lot of money
Metro Bank are quite easy to obtain a current account at and loans / credit cards can be approved manually with bank statementsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
no credit offers.
Are you a metro bank customer?
Will they accept print off statments or do they need postal statments?
May give them a try as i would like to join Metro for their opening hours.0 -

Yes - I am a Metro Bank customer
You don't need bank statements to open a current account - if they don't offer an overdraft / credit card they will consider the application manually and look at bank statementsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I've just phoned Very and Vanquis up to close my accounts with them. I'm amazed these days that companies don't make any attempt at retention any more! Not that I wanted to be retained lol.
After all the problems I had many years ago, it's pretty cathartic phoning companies up and telling them "thank you for the credit but I don't want it any more. Goodbye, I don't owe you a penny!"
My total debt now stands at £303, and I've just reduced my overall available credit by £900.
Today is a good day.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -
Agree totally about retentions. O2 were terrible when I left them on my phone contract (although they have been widely reported to be shocking for a while now).
I sent a message to Capital One a few months ago saying I wanted to close my account (after my track record with requesting increases with them, and them refusing, they could guess quite accurately why). I just got back a message saying I owe £44 so can't close it until after the direct debit had been taken.... that's it. No question about why I wanted to close the account at all!!
Sygma appear to have requested both my increase requests. I'll try again in the summer after not having searches for 6 months. If they reject that I'm closing it, £200 is ridiculous0 -

I know halifax state they will open you an account if you have had 36 months clean history but im hoping to open a new hsbc account soon as my history is nearly 36 months clear..
