Maybe they have hidden it somewhere that for the student credit card, you agree that they set up a DD (surely they know your account number/sort code)? Can you check the direct debits on the online banking? Although the mandate will never say that, on the bank's side - so check the card's settings as well.

When my OH activated the card with Cap1, they insisted that it's required to have a direct debit setup - it never was for me...? Then again, I simply said I don't have those details with me, and I'll use the online interface later. I'm sure we could cancel it anytime.

Maybe they don't have different types of marketing material for the cards...

Oddly, I checked the direct debit online and it isn't listed - even though the direct debit letter I got today is dated 22 September.

Although it most probably is in the credit agreement that student credit cards must set up a direct debit. Students being students, they've probably a higher rate of missed payments and the likes. Bloody students.

The iPhone 4 went on sale in China yesterday. It doesn't make sense... China makes the phones, but doesn't get to buy them until months after the rest of the world has one?

I bought an ultra mobile mini notebook yesterday (it weighs less than the bones in my hand and fits in my pocket) and I'm blaming Sutton for aggravating my technology addiction with his iPad! :rotfl::rotfl:

Haha, I'm glad I have that power loll :rotfl:

Yes I bet LTSB go back the whole 6 years! I know when I applied for an Evan's card (Santander backed) I was shocked to get a get lost email:j I wrote to them as I had one little default from 2004, and that was the reason. The default date incidently was incorrect, should of come off in June 2010, but still on in July!

So a default of £30 was the reason for a decline.

PS, Yes Evan's is for ''bigger gals'' but I applied because the card can be used in Wallis and other stores - honest:D

Past few weeks, the page to increase my Amex duo credit limit on the Lloyds online banking has never worked because I held the card for less than 6 months.

Today, it started working so I decided to apply for a 2k credit limit (currently have 1k atm) and it was refused, but it said they were able to offer me £1600 and it was changed right away.

Total credit available to me now: £6420. Not bad for a student. Not quite high enough yet to withdraw it all and do a runner but slowly getting there.

    Hi Brian,

My boyfriend opened a Lloyds cash account (all he was allowed) in June '08. They upgraded him to Silver last June and gave him a credit card this Feb and offered to look at his ghastly Black Horse car loan. This week they agreed a large sum to pay that off. So they really do look at good behaviour and upgrade. This has really made a difference to us so good luck! Kind regards, MG
