Hi everyone,
Just thought I would let you all know, I have just received my new Capital One Progress Mastercard with a £300 limit. I have a 3 year old CCJ, 4 defaults all over a year old, honestly didn't think i stood a chance, i am a housewife too in private rented accomodation. Oh! and also have managed to open a full Halifax Current Account with debit cards and cheque book and £250 overdraft limit! :j0 -

You are looking at the wrong cards mate especially tesco, you need to be looking for a sub-prime card like capital one classic or vanquis.0 -
oh right.. i thought they only looked back 3 years?think i have misundertood previous posts. partner has a 4 yr old ccj and 1 3 yr old default. we would like a credit card for emergency use...suggestions would be greatly appreciated. wrks full time and earns £25k+
thanks0 -

You need to explain your situation a bit more, how many credit cards do you have ,the balance, missed payments e.t.c0 -
sorry, im not very good at this
1 card- £370 outstanding, 1 late payment in thelast 6 months
1 loan - £3278 outstanding 0 late/miss payments
thats it, thanks0 -

If you've missed a payment in the last 6 months it'll make it harder - they want to see you consistently pay on time. As star-fire says, Capital One and Vanquis are worth a try but that may be it with missed payment
Also you say emergency use, what kind of limit are you wanting? If you get accepted for a sub-prime card you probably won't be getting a substantial one at first, if at all. The 25k wage helps, but you still need to have a very good record to access their top cards0
