You lot on about Aqua has made me apply for one =D
I got referred, every time I've applied before I got declined, this time I got referred.
Any advice, what do you think Zack and Paris?
Sutton, when I applied for Aqua I was referred too and then received the letter saying sorry but so and so...
I appealed, send copies of bank statements, proof of employment and so on and the underwriters approved me. If you are declined again, it may be worth to appeal, send a few bank statements or something else you believe makes you worthy for the card.0 -

Does anyone know anything about offshore bank accounts as am looking into opening one up?
I used to have a couple of them in Jersey with Barclays and Natwest. Good service. They gave me the Barclays delta and Natwest Maestro cards, both with chueque guarantee, cheque books and even an Eurocheque book with its cheque guarantee card.
Back then you had to send a banker's reference in order to open an account.
Anyway they are no different to having standard UK bank accounts, except for they have far more charges, so if you can keep you current accounts, I wouldn't go for offshore banking.0 -

reason for offshore account will be for tax purposes and my wages will be paid into it aswell.
I was planning getting a US Dollar account and still use my Direct debits from it. I called them and they said this service is free and without any problems0 -
I am puzzled. I bank with HSBC, and have been with them for under 20 years. I have a CGC, an overdraft and a personal loan. However I can't get a credit card from them. In the past, telephone banking have told me I am pre approved for a CC, yet when I go forward with the application I am declined.
Surely an unsecured loan is more of a risk than a CC. I have had a number of loans over the years.

I can't get a student account. I tried Lloyds and they said no. I have 30ish searches on my file... but lots of green 0's...0

Used my account with them for matched betting. I don't think they'll be too happy when they see £1000 betting transactions that have gone through the account.0 -
Okay if you never used the account for matched betting it would have been easier to get a student account.
I had a account with HSBC before I was a student and it was easy for them to change it to a student account with the interest free overdraft and the student credit card maybe try some other banks or wait for some of the searches to fall off.0
