    ... <Continuing Rant about LTSB>

So on Thursday Lloyds TSB arbitrarily cancelled my Gold debit card without my asking or them saying they'd done so; which I found out on Friday evening at the bar. Somewhat embarrassing.

So called them up, they said they'd issue a new card, and reassured me it would carry the same PIN. As I have another current account with them, he offered to transfer some money to that one as I still had the card for it active. Which I said no to as I have forgotten the PIN for my second account. I asked him to send a PIN reminder for the second account but leave the Gold account PIN as it is.

He confirmed that this had been done.

Today I received a Green card, not Gold card for my Gold account. I called LTSB again and was reassured that a Gold card has now been issued with the same PIN and I can use the Green card until it arrives.

Unable to get any money out because they had changed my PIN on BOTH accounts I ended up having to walk across town to work in the rain.

Called LTSB again on the way, somewhat furious. They've kept me for now by promising £50 compensation to be paid into my account within 48 hours but TBH I'd rather they put the £50 back into training the retards that keep breaking my account.

What is it with me and replacement cards / PINs lately? I seem to be a magnet for poorly trained call center agents at the moment. Still eight months before I can apply for an HSBC current a/c. Hurry up!

    </Rant>

    So, how is everyone? :D

That's shocking, never going to them!

You seem really positive of getting this HSBC Current Account in April? Good luck if it helps you get away from Lloyds! I know 1 other person with Lloyds.... she's had nothing but trouble!

I can't wait for middle of Feb.... hopefully my Halifax internal score has improved, and Natpest (but I can't see that), then I can apply for a Halifax credit card and go for getting my Natpest card back! But I think I'll go for standard rather than student this time!

Yes I am holding out hope of being approved for an HSBC account on April Fools Day :)

I will have had 36 months flawless credit history then. I will also apply in branch and bring along my Equifax credit report (which doesn't show any of the adverse history that Experian does ;) ) - so if the system does say no or maybe, the Branch manager can look at my "gleaming" Equifax file and override the decision :T

    Or so I've convinced myself.

I have a HSBC current account which I only use to receive child benefit and pay off a loan in ny husbands name. I stopped having my salary paid in May 2008and have been with the Natwest since then. I have never done anything wrong have loads of money left over every month have a savings account with them all my direct debits including the mortgage are paid out and over £4k a month is paid in. I still havent been offered an account upgrade or an overdraft and have only just in the last 2 months been given an upgraded blue visa debit card from the purple solo electron 1. Everytime they say my credit rating isnt good enough. I have 1 default from 2007 on an egg card which I have paid religiously since then at £250 per month. Is there any way I could persuade them? I dont need the overdraft but it would be nice to think they would offer me something from a basic account?

They will do a full credit search despite your being a customer already when you apply for a full current account.

Having an outstanding default from the last three years will cause this to decline. Doesn't matter that you're paying £250 a month towards it now.

Unfortunately you'll just have to grin and bear it until the default is satisfied and a bit older.

What else do you have on your credit file? Have you checked it recently?

Aqua still reported a green mark on my credit report despite paying 10 days late due to me being out of the country and the direct debit failing, which I'm happy about. :)

I assume that you currently have a STEP account with Natwest?
Once your default is OVER 3 years old they may accept you for a current plus with chequebook but you will probably still receive the blue visa debit as opposed to the purple one.
With the full current account however you will start to build up an internal score which you don't do with the STEP account.
I have 2 old defaults, nearly 5 yrs old, had 3 when I got my full account in Aug 08 having had the step for 5 years.
I opted for the Ad Gold as I do use the benefits to warrant £12.95 p/m then last year was approved in branch for the Ad gold credit card to go with it.
    It can be done :D
    Natwest gold..Limit £1750 bal £970..Vanquis Limit £3000 bal £0..Littlewoods..Limit £1200 bal 0..Additions direct..Limit £4900 bal £1356..Empire Limit £6200 bal £152..Jd williams..Limit £1100 bal £130..Simplybe..Limit £1500 bal 265,,Fashion world..Limit £1400 bal £145 Jacamo..Limit£125 bal 0

Thanks, I think I'll need it! My plan is to check my Halifax guaranteed overdraft limit every month (do they update on a specific day?), as obviously if this rises it'll at least go some way to improve my situation and show I'm using the current account correctly. I want to then apply for Halifax credit card/Vanquis/Sygma/Tesco/Natpest straight away one after the other on the same day. Natpest will probably fail AVU though (as the other searches will probably be shown by the time AVU get round to checking me! :rotfl:)
