i've had a few episodes of depression over time. don't realy like medication - 1st time i crashed the car felt so out of it. Bit of a control freak so don't like feeling out of control - except alcohol of course! i try to get through with natural therapies etc.

I couldn't have got through a very difficult time without my meds - I was on Citalapram but I felt able to cope and have been fine without them. Everyone is different. The thing is not too rush. If you need them you need them.

I agree that it is a lot easier to talk about problems like this on here than it is to say it to my friends or colleagues. Strange isn't it?

  • I feel like that too flis, but do you know that 1 in 4 of us will suffer from some type of mental illness in our lifetimes?

I had to go private as I couldnt wait, it was worth it but I was so worried for people who can't afford to pay £40 a session

  • I've been on a waiting list for a year and a half now. I think it's probably best to stay with the meds until I've had it.

That is an amazing statistic I knew it was becoming more common, but I never realised it was that high.

I can't even talk to my Mum or my other half about it. My Mum can't understand it and just thinks it is me being pathetic. My other half always thinks it is his fault and his job to 'pull me out' of it.

yeah mental health is a bit of a taboo. but you'd be amazed the number of people including the ones that seem so together) suffer in this way. does have an influence on your relationship with money i think.

I had some counselling, which helped a bit at the time, but only got 6 sessions, really needed more and I can't afford to pay for it myself.

Never mind, just stick with medication for now.
