  • I have this monitor, got it for £130ish last week. Ive held off buying an LCD display until now as, no matter what model you buy, they just arent as good as an average quality CRT. Ive essentialy bought this for a dual monitor workstation, and my desk just wouldnt accomodate another 19" CRT.

I have to say Ive been pleasantly surprised by this HannsG. Ive used it for Call of Duty 2 which has the resultion available as standard, and once you get used to the image going blerd during extremely fast motion, you end up quickly not noticing it. I am pretty fussy, and I didnt think Id end up using this for my primary display, but I have.
I also tried it on BF2, and had a nightmare with it which ended up with me having to re-install it to get it working. You have to edit the executable command line to put x and y pixel parameters in it.

Also, no dead pixels, which was something that worried me when ordering it.

Im seriously considering buying a second one now at 105 quid and disposing of the crt.
  • can you connect this direct to a normal DVD player? Want to use it as a TV..also is it possible to send video from PC via my wireles netwrk..ie to bedroom. cant get a terrestrial signal where I live so why bother with a LCD TV? (plenty of satellite here though)

I ordered one of these yesterday and I'm pleased at the positive feedback on here. Should be here in 7-14 days. Many thanks to the OP

I've ordered one of these (do hope i get it after reading all the good posts). Whats the difference between a VGA and DVI cable? Does the DVI give better quality?

VGA is analogue, while DVI is digital, so yes the latter will give a better quality display. Click here for some info on DVI.

Tron_ADS thanks for the firsthand review :). G
  • Is the screen a gloss of matt finish. I bought a tft last year that was a gloss finish & the sun used to reflect off it, had to return it & go back to my old crt as it annoyed me.

They fixed that years ago - as well as "RGB - most common " they also offer "BGR - very rare" and provide on-screen comparisons so you can just use your eyesight and brain to decide if you like what it's doing and prefer it one way or the other.

Thanks - I'll give it a another go then! Not sure that BGR is that rare though!!!

  • Slightly off-topic, but DVi cables are probably cheapest from https://www.cdlmicro.co.uk if this helps anyone. We got ours a couple of weeks ago from them and are cheaper than most places.

I used to believe CRTs were better quality but after buying a Dell 19" TFT I was convinced otherwise, now me and my 3 kids have TFTs and I couldn't even think about going back. The heat output of CRTs alone should be enough to convince you to change!
