    Aaah, still remains sadistically refreshing!

    lol!

Got this today, and I must admit, the widescreen does make it look quite small!

    Arrived today and well chuffed.
No dead pixels as confirmed by app for checking.
Set at 1440 x 900. Dropped Brightness to 70 and Contrast to 90 and they are great for me (way too bright on deafault).

No dead pixels for mine either, & dropped brightness to 10 & contrast to 65. Went from 800x600 on my previous monitor to 1440 x 900 on this.

I agree, it does make it look small. I wish I had a non-widescreen 19" TFT to compare it to side-by-side.

Pictures/photos don't look as good as on my excellent 15" CRT, but as someone mentioned somewhere it's no big deal unless you're a professional photographer or similar. Having more desk space is a big plus point.

Had to change many settings, including larger display fonts, enabled ClearType for better text display & permanent zoom in my bowsers (Avant/Firefox/Opera). Have not even bothered to try the speakers as I've a good 2.1 set.

Hopefully, I can now look forward to fewer instances of eyestrain because a TFT doesn't flicker like a CRT does - though I'd my CRT refresh rate at a very respectable 100Hz.

Overall very satisfied for £105 + del :), & a new 24-pin dual link DVI with gold connects for under £5 off eBay. G

Mine arrived today. I guess I've been unluckier than most as I've a stuck pixel in the lower right hand side of the screen. Not too sure whether Amazon would exchange it, or whether I can be bothered to go through the hassle of arranging an exchange when it's just the one pixel - it's permanently green.

It's barely noticeable at all when the windows is up and running, it's as clear as day during boot up though. Even with the stuck pixel I can't complain at £105 delivered.

Fogg1969, you could try 'repairing' the dead pixel using one/more of these methods. Good luck :D, G

    Thanks for that. :)

Much to my surprise, the "poke with a finger" method worked.

  • I bought a DVI-D to DVI-D cable off eBay as per this thread but unfortunately my base unit does not have a DVI input plug so I've had to use the VGA lead that came with the screen.
Can someone tell me what lead I need to get the best out of my screen??

    Thank you :)

You need to install a DVI graphics card.. Having said that my Hanns turned up yesterday and I am currently running it of analoge laptop and think its great. I am going to upgrade to a new compute in a couple of months and make sure that has the dvi connector as standard.

Can I rig this up using a TV receiver and a laptop, or does it have to be a desktop?

But what's the point in installing a DVI card if I haven't got a dvi connector?

Sorry, I'm not technical minded, but I was thinking along the lines of an adaptor of some sort?
