Well I received an E/M from amazon informing me that due to demands mine would be delayed for another two weeks. Checked on the Amazon site and that confirmed it.
The following day a knock at the door produced one Hanns G.:confused:

Went back to Amazon site thinking I might get a second one in error and it told me item had been despatched. Odd!

Anyhow, I dropped from a huge 19" CTX monitor and expected to suffer a drop in size but I am very impressed with my new W/S.

Soon got used to the different shape but boot up is silent whereas old CRT (bless her) used to grunt a bit whenever powered up.

Happy as a sandboy now but will have to consider a 'puter upgrade to feel really 'souped up."

Thanks again for the post OP.

I'm inclined to the Samsung SM940BW but I'll also upgrade my iMac to a 20" when the new OS Leopard ships so it doesn't seem so pressing now. That's bargain fever for you ;)

Stuck with the old Viewsonic 17" as an extended desktop and though it has wonderful colours it's showing its age in response time.

I recently purchased this Hama 17"/ 18" Flatscreen Dustcover for only £2.93 (added other stuff I needed to make it £15 & get the free delivery).

Its dimenions are 480 x 400 x 80 mm (W x H X D), & does the job nicely. It comes all folded-up in a small box, so to get rid of its deep creases I ironed it (believe it or not :p) with a slightly warm iron - see this 'before & after' pic.

Initially I had a look on eBay & the same were selling for £5 delivered. You can also get a generic cover for £3 there, but not too sure if the sizes available will be suitable or not - maybe worth contacting the seller (I tried, & after several emails back & forth I'm still not sure!).

Another inexpensive option (no more than 10p) would be to use a District Council transparent Recycling Sack cut to size - of course, this only if you usually purchase them! G

P.S. Do not mistake the cover I purchased for this Hama 19" / 21" Flatscreen Cover (or the same on eBay).

Has anyone out there got the HANNS.G 19" LCD HC194D non-widescreen?

    I am wondering
    a) if it is a matt rather than glossy surface and
    b) if the wiewing angle is good e.g. if someone standing beside you can also clearly see the screen.

    before I buy

[ EDIT - Oh well ordered one anyway ]
