Why should they? A Doctor doesn't refuse treatment to an accident prone kid if he's only going to break his arm again?

The sales person would have done the necessary checks which were satsified.
Unless someone agrees with you, you don't pay any attention.

Question . How many of you have had a child / adult in the same position as the OP and yet you all feel qualified to post that her DD was irresponsible .
You might be classed as an "adult" at 18, but trust me , 18year old's are still kids .;)

I am 18, and if I took out a contract without being able to afford it, I would class myself as irresponsible.

Or just plain stupid/jaded by the lights and attractions of a shiny new phone.

But I've worked since I was 14, so it's not an issue and I pay my contract every month on time.
I strongly dislike being tarred with the same brush as OP's daughter as basically incapable and a baby, I would hate my Mum if she smothered me like you appear to, instead she taught me to be responsible and offered guidance when I needed it.

If 18 year olds are just kids, why do we send them out onto the roads in machines that can kill if they aren't driven responsibly? If parents aren't overprotective, why do such a large proportion break the law to insure their vehicles in their own names? 18 year olds are allowed to kill people in the armed services, buy a house, own and drive a car and, yes, take out a mobile contract. If they aren't even responsible enough to do the last one shouldn't we change the whole of society so they can't do the rest and a hell of a lot more besides? Let's start with not giving them loans to pay for their university education; they are lent a LOT more than is involved in a mobile phone with zero means to repay that at the time!

Yet I was 18, I got a contract, and have never missed a payment.

    Totally agree.

A lot of people on this forum stereotype against students and younger people. Tis crazy sometimes.

Exactly. So let's add a test every time someone buys something to see if they are "mature" enough. That way we can make the whole system completely unworkable for everyone to protect the few poor things who haven't learnt how to be responsible. The ultimate nanny state!

Are you suggesting that her daughter wasn't irresponsible?
