When we were little, dad used to buy a ham and cook it overnight with that yummy mustard coating.
We always had that for breakfast with a poached egg.
The rest would go for the buffet at teatime on boxing day with the leftover turkey.

On Christmas morning the kids have a selection box each (but always leave the finger of fudge so they don't spoil their dinner!)
I have Malteasers and OH has Liquorice Allsorts, both washed down with Santa's sherry!
On boxing day, though I love bubble & squeak with fried eggs for breakfast!
  • I'm really sorry but the kids haven't gone back to school yet from their summer hols, and therefore it's too early to think about for me!!

We also had home cooked ham in sandwiches. loved it. wanted to start own christmas breakfast tradition when oh and i moved in, so we have pancakes and fruit juice. yummy. i dont drink fruit juice normally only tea or water so even this bits quite exciting! I always make the batter Christmas Eve and leave in fridge overnight. Its nice to start the tradition early so we usually go to the local with oh parents for a couple and walk back at closing time knowing Christmas breakfast will soon be underway!

I just love hearing about other people Christmas traditions.

Its what makes Christmas that little bit more special.

Just 115 days to go :T :D :rotfl:
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Not being a SC girl, this may be a completely stupid question, but can you do rice in the SC?
If so you could do kedgeree for christmas breakfast.

Not sure what we're going to have, other than it will involve something alcoholic & fizzy :D
As kids we were allowed to ignore breakfast on Christmas Day & stuff ourselves silly with chocolate. In fact, Christmas hasn't really started until my Dad has had his first Walnut Whip :D
  • Sounds like we're with the majority.......scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, bucks fizz and croissants.

Sorry I can't think of anything for the SC.........did try porridge once but had a bit of a disaster so haven't tried again:rotfl:

  • I think we're also with most of you - croissants, smoked salmon on wheaten bread, bucks fizz - however we don't eat dinner till 7pm so we have a sort of brunch to keep us going - might add bacon buties this year - good idea
