We always have the Tesco Oven Chips, there are about £1.20 for a 1KG bag. They do need a bit longer than it says, but they are lovely and so much cheaper than the smaller bags of 'big brands' you can buy.Be Kind, Work Hard, Stay Humble, Smile Often, Keep Honest, Stay Loyal, Travel When Possible, Never Stop Learning, Be Thankful Always and Love0

As nickyhutch says - make your own.
So easy.
I buy some potatoes, cut into thick strips, roll in oil and bung in hot oven.
Costs pennies0 -
Coop crinkle cut are lovely- recently on offer too.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

For an average bag of potatos it's over the £1 mark and if you don't use potatos for anything else, it's not actually that effecient to make your own. Say one bag of potatos gets used for one lot of chips at a cost of £1.50...come 3 days later if you want chips again you have to go buy another bag of potatos at £1.50 whereas with a bag of frozen ready made chips you can pay £1.50 for a bag that will last you for multiple meals.
And it might be easy for some people but if you've been at work all day and have to come home and cook dinner, most people would prefer to just bung in some ready made ones.
Just a thought...although, nothing beats home-made chips for taste, I will admit. :TI'm still driving away and I'm sorry everyday,

£1.50 worth of potatoes??! One large potato is plenty for one person (and I'm a pig, believe me). A bag of potatoes will last a couple of weeks in our fridge, and if you really wouldn't use them for anything else, don't buy a bag, buy them loose in the quantity you need.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I do not buy potatoes in bags, I buy the quantity I want.
But I think you are being ripped off if you are spending that much on potatoes and then turning them into chips.
In fact that must make one hell of a lot of chips0 -

I must shop wrong or something, even loose potatoes in the quantity I need cost me about £1.20!That's only for like 2 baking potatos, I don't use them to make chips. I am obviously not a savvy shopper.

Another McCain Home Fries fan here I'm affraid!
If you fancy a change, then Tesco Frozen Potato Wedges are a good price, 52p for a 750g bag (that's the regular price, not a special offer). The bag says they are 'spicy' but I wouldn't say they that they are, they do taste nice though.
