DCFC79, retailers can choose to accept them or not, customers can choose to use retailers and banks that still accept them. The places where I use them get more business from me as a result. Up to them if they want to lose some of that business but the places that offer neither cheque nor electronic payment do get less business from me than they would otherwise. I'd usually prefer credit card payment if that was available.

Well you may have to change soon when the Cheque Guarantee scheme comes to an end. ;) It won't be up to retilers or individual banks. At the moment, companies are getting ready for the change, so you will see them accepting them less and less.
    Best Regards

What I find a shame about this thread is that the OP asked if there was an alternative to Nationwide that offered a Chequebook and Cheque Guarantee Card Only.

I told her about the Leeds Building Society account -

Everyone else in the thread just has to get on their high horse and lecture people on the fact that they shouldn't use cheques and the fact that they wish to tender money by this method is their business and no one elses.

Which will only be available for the next year with a CGC.

Change to cash - simple answer to the problem.

What a drama queen the OP is.

How it must be to live with such a closed mind.

Anyway, I'm sick of opening bank accounts for people whose sole intention appears to commit fraud with the issued cheque guarantee card.

In the last three months at least three people have run up almost immediate debts of £2k+. I'll be glad to see them go.

I think the only people who will be sad to see the scheme go is the people who abused it ;-0

Leeds are not menbers of the UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Card Scheme or Payments Council so can continue to offer cheque guarantee cards unabated ;)

    Ok, a few facts;
    1. The CG Scheme is finished next year.
    2. No Bank/BS have exclusive rights to the scheme - once the scheme ends it applies to all financial institutions.
    3. Cash and Cheques are yesterday’s money, Visa and MasterCard is king.

Get over it, more important things to worry about.:)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

The UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Card Scheme /Payments Council members scheme is indeed ending , however Leeds B/Soc are not a member of this and will be continuing with its own cheque guarantee card regardless :rotfl:

They have a different hologram you see ;)
