We are mailing from Dell in relation to your Inspiron 1300 order
(Internet Receipt Number: Gb0131-5813-XXXXXXX).
For a limited period on the 29th of June, it was
possible to downgrade memory, appearing on our UK web site. The error was quickly
identified and rectified by our Pricing and Online teams. We sincerely regret
this error and apologise to you for any confusion.
During that time period, you attempted to place an order at
the incorrect price. However, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of
sale which say that orders are only binding when confirmed by Dell in a written
order confirmation, we will not be processing your order at that price, as you
did not receive an order confirmation.
You may have received an order acknowledgement after placing
your order and you will see it states that Dell is not responsible for
typographical, pricing or other errors and reserves the right to cancel any
orders based on such errors. In addition as stated above orders are only
binding when an order confirmation has been received.
The correct price for the order you wished to place is £142 on top of the original price communicated via
your acknowledgement receipt. If you wish to proceed with this order with the
new price please reply to this mail.
We would like to offer you again our sincerest apologies for this
inconvenience. Dell appreciates your business and hopes that you will continue
to consider us for your IT needs.
Yours sincerely,

Thats not much use to all of us whom placed orders as......
............. they did honor the deal to the original poster of this offer on a different site! (fair play and good luck to him for getting it tho :T )0 -
Well they didnt really have much choice but to honour his order, he ordered and got a pdf order confimation which then formed a contract before he made it known about the misprice so he was home and dry and good luck to him

Others ordered and then the error was highlighted by the large amount of orders for one ecode. The rest is now history.0 -
Thankfully I did not cancel my dell outlet order! Ahwell, maybe next time eh

If everyone contacted Consumer Direct (Trading Standards) and stated that Dell appear to be offering laptops with the possibility of downgrading items and then not honouring the deal Consumer Direct may pursue Dell for misrepresentation. Below is an extract from an email I received from them when I complained about another Dell miss price which was then offered to me if I paid the extra.
**However, it is potentially a criminal offence for a company to intentionally mislead consumers with their pricing. For this reason I will forward details of your complaint to the trading standards authority where Dell are based for information purposes only, in case there have been other similar complaints.**
The difference in this case to my previous run in with Dell is, they said it was a miss-price that time. This time they had a downgrade option not a miss-price and have decided not to honour any orders which I would say is misleading customers.
Hehe..just noticed they are re-hashing old emails
I didn't think they had made the error on the 29th June

I've had the email too. Have they honoured any orders?0

If they made the mistake on the 29 June (which is on my email) and did'nt pull it until 31 Aug then this deal was there for 2 months. So in that case it was definatly misleading. Might be worth a try but I'm sure they have been down this alley before.0
