I think that if it were the man who was working and the family was short of money, everybody would be suggesting that the mother took some kind of work. In this particular case, if the wife brings in the main income, perhaps she should look at working full time hours?

So you now expect the tax payer to bail you out?

Can you not live within your means? If not you have two choices, either cut back on your expenditure or increase your income through working more hours.

Otherwise you'll just keep perpetuating the debt cycle.

  • The OP seems to not be responding to the suggestion of fitting a job around his wife's hours....seems like the most sensible advice to me

When I were a lad and needed money I went out and got work rather than get the begging bowl out for the tax payer to fill it.

Thankfully the Tories are going to put an end to free loading.

No they are not, they haven't reduced the Civil List at all:rotfl:

my child is in nursery. Right im not saying all are bad most would not harm a child but it will only take the odd one who does now im thinking this was a bad idea to ask for advice and voice why i wont put my child in with a childminder.

    Nurseries also offer childcare facilities.

I fully support that either a mother or a father should stay at home if they are financialy able to do so; and to be honest I dont think people are saying for you to work because you are a man its more to do with you asking what you can do about your situation.

If your Q is what can I do to up the houshold money than im afraid it would be to work (even if its bar work in the evening)

If your Q is what can you do about the Tax Credits situation; than not a lot you wont get more till nxt time they look at your circs which will be the nxt financial year icon11.gif

I my self would love to stay home with my Daughter but cant afford to do so; so find that both of us have to work to pay the bills.

I understand that the tax credits are calculated on your partners prev earnings. If your wife has reduced her hours since then this is going to have an impact on the amount you recieve also.

I'm not your mate, nor by the sound of it will I ever be.

I'm a snob, I look down my nose at those unwilling to work *sniff*
