Ah - but if CAb or DWP were to help efficiently then there would be no need for these......would there?

Infact I believe I read somewhere on mSE forums that 'it is not up to the DWp to tell claimants what they can get, it is up to the claimant to find out' (how?) ...when most cab are clueless and folks queue up round the block before its even opened as they don't operate a phone service??

Hmm I beg to differ. Theres a very obvious need for these 'organisations' to tell the claimant the truth.
I think that is rather insulting to cab workers, many are doing the best they can in a very underbudgeted situation with very limited staff, they have to constantly put up with abuse from clueless people who waste their time for things like how to stop a cat peeing in their roses or why a local shop wount stock size 72 trousers because they eat 42 mcgarbage burgers a day. Most cab workers are very clued up on DLA and similar forms and will do all the can to help genuine claimants given their limited time and resources. Most cab offices would do a telephone service if they had the staff to do this so that is one thing you cannot moan about. Also it can be noted that ALL information they give is freely available online, but alas modern society is such that the majority who have this facility are to bone idle to look therefore clogging up the offices for those who either cannot get on line or cannot do it due to health/age etc. If you feel so strongly about the need for organisations then I suggest you get off your backside and start a local one if you are capable or can be bothered.

If CAB are "clueless", they will happily give numbers of organisations who can help.

Looking after one's apperance is a care need, believe it or not.

Myopia isn't a disability - I hve it and certainly don't class it as a disability and neither do NHS. (because it's corrected by glasses - nerve damage can't be)
You really are argumentative for the sake of it.

You say here that "Myopia is not a disability because it can be corrected by glasses".....if you really believe that, then you wouldnt be able to claim most of what you do because those ailments you have can be corrected or controlled.

Looking after ones appearance may well be a care need but shaving your legs is not something that needs to be done.
You need to wash, to shower or bathe. You need to brush your hair and clean your teeth.
Since when has shaving your legs or putting on make-up not been an act of choice?

How would you ever have coped 30 years ago?

We didnt get tax credits then.
There were no hand outs for being pregnant....fresh food vouchurs or wads of money for stuff.
We had child ALLOWANCE......a payment that was given to encourage families to grow and for some reason has now been changed to 'benefit'.
And that was it. We went to work for the things we needed and if we didnt, then we didnt get.
Unemployment benefit didnt get you much at all.

People have come to expect money in their hands when they want it and it has to be enough!
    Why?

Such a greedy society now....and so wasteful because of it!
My parents had the same 3 piece suite their entire lives......because they were taught to respect the things they buy and not to be wasteful.

I seriously believe that Cameron is of the same ilk...and slowly (hopefully) we can go back to having some sense in all this greed.

Giving information is very different from filling in forms for people.

The direct.gov website is very thorough in its information on benefits and has been advertised extensively on television.

There's also a benefits checker (similar to entitledto) on the Direct Gov website.

I suggest you look up Nystagmus and Leber's Optic Atrophy. Neither of them can be corrected by glasses. The damage done by leber's is permanent and can't be controlled. The issues I have with Nystagmus can't be controlled. Yes, some of the secondary problems (squint, astgimatism, etc) can be controlled; but the eye movement can't be.

I have NEVER claimed for myopia. (mine is mild)

If you claim they can be controlled, please tell me where this evidence is and contact Nystagmus Network and tell them that they're liars and none of them know what they're talking about? Oh sorry, you can't.

What worries me is that you could have the well being of other people in your hands. Such a harridan as a nurse?

What pleases me is that you are retired.

I have never seen one of your posts that is anything other than critical of other benefit recipients, they are snide nasty and downright rude.

I pity your poor husband having to live with someone as cold hearted and selfish as you.

You dont like the fact that people are ENTITLED to benefits, yet you applied for AA and admitted on this forum that you didnt need it and only claimed it because of ENTITLEMENT.

So if you are so holier than thou, cancel the claim, save the money for people who DO need it then maybe you can lecture others

Not I nor Kriss nor Older....or anyone else that has an opposing view could be classed as rude.

All the opinions we hold are valid....they are given and backed up with facts......and none resort to name calling.

The only ones I see that are rude, are the Pro benefit people who are constantly trying to put us down with posts such as yours.

Why do you feel the need to be so nasty....so spiteful?

To call someone a "harridan"....selfish and to pity her 'poor' husband is way too personal!

Thanks to the government disability claimants are being tarred with the same brush as the work shy career claimants. This is unfair, I know that fraud does exist but I beleive they are just targeting the people less likely to fight back.
    No they are not!
Disability claimants have not been tarred with any kind of brush.
What has been said is that the work shy will not be able to hide behind disability thinking that they will not be found out, because now, with the new rulings, they most certainly will!

DLA has nothing to do with work.

If what you're saying is true, why are there so many stories in the media about people defrauding the system?
