OP, which local authority do you come under?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Ive been living here and receiving HB here for 5 years wee willy. I understand that oldernotwiser, sorry I didn't mean to sound abrubt, my carer rents the house, and I share the rent half and half as I can not live alone. Its been fine and dandy for 5 years, I can't understand why it has suddenly dropped is all - and all the council say is because house prices have gone down? Seems a bit vague to me? Have just written my appeal letter in any case, who knows?

ash4becks, they increased my rent due to the higher rate dla thingy last year, a disability rent officer came out and actioned it, they paid me over £1000 back that they owed me!!! I had to ring them to ask if they had made a mistake!! Now this has happened, its as if they are taking it all back?

    Im 35

    Thanks for replying

ash4becks, I explained it on the phone earlier but I was raging so I probably wasn't that helpful. Ive just finished writing my appeal letter so we'll have to see, I can't help thinking someone has overlooked the disability part? My CPN is ringing me first thing, hopefully they will help me out?

In that case, what you have been told is definitely incorrect. Selby is split over 4 rental areas, but all of them have increased over the past two years (which bucks the trend nationally, many have decreased). For instance, Leeds has gone from £65 to £68 for the shared rate, and £98 to £109 for the one bedroom rate.

Do you share all rooms other than your bedroom?

If Selby is in the West Riding and Hull area, then the shared accommodation rate is listed as £54, which was what you were getting before.

well i hope they get a good kick up the bum and its sorted soon , i would have well kicked of myslef so dont feel bad for it and to be there 5 years and that to happen not on as far as iam concened will have a look at your areas housing details x
  • Yes DMG, I do, but my bedroom is mine. Ive looked at everything Selby related and found the same info as you've just been kind enough to pass on, I just don't understand what is going on. They have made mistakes before, maybe this is just another?

    Thanks again.
