Unfortunately they will not because someone claims Carers Allowance for them. It is a very odd rule!
The woman is talking nonsense!
You need to find out whether you are on LHA or HB, and what is the full rate that your claim has been assessed on. Then you can do the calculation yourself (we can help), and base your appeal around that.
I would definitely put in a claim for IS. If my calculation is correct you will receive less than £10 per week, but it will make your HB/ LHA entitlement so much easier to calculate!
I'm not sure if it has been asked already, do you have savings above £6,000 or £16,000?
I'm going offline now, but will check back tomorrow afternoon.
that rule sucks shame i thought i might have found the info needed to sort this mess out silly council , i would still ask about it all they can say is no, bed for me too nite guys and dolls x0 -

A bathroom is not counted in the two room calculation. The rooms that count are bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms etc.
You seem adamant on giving out the wrong advice. If you are so sure that you are correct, then find some govt documentation to back up your point, as I have done.Gone ... or have I?0 -

By a self-contained property we mean one where you have your own room plus your own:
• bathroom
• toilet, and
• kitchen (or facilities to cook with)
you both might be right but thats in the doc you have just sent
There are extra rules if you are severely disabled. For more information about these, please

Actually, having read it fully, I do believe DMG is correct and my interpretation is in error. However, I still think that the OP is currently under HB and not LHA, which needs to be explored.0 -
in all honesty its a flaming mess i have looked over a few websites and the info just isnt there shame she doesnt live in my area i would have sent her to my cab she gets things sorted stright of and not the extra stress which may lead to being down further,
the disablity allowence on hb is little known which iam sure cat is entited to but it is made harder with having carer living-in , if all else fails then hopefully she can claim some income support that will make up the short fall a bit x0 -

It would be worth editing your posts to reflect the misinformation, it could be very confusing if someone was to read and run.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Morning dears,
Have just come off the phone. Upshot being the main issues seems to be surrounding the fact Im on HB not LHA, none of the rates online apply to this, is based solely on rent officers decision. I e-mailed a quick I wish you to appeal letter and they are going to action in straight away - should hear back by next wednesday. Then I'm going to look at moving claim to LHA. How is one supposed to know these things? - Thanks again for all your help, greatly appreciated.0
