Does anyone have any suggestions for my fan on my laptop. It gets so hot you can barely touch it and has sometimes overheated to the point of turning off.

Starter for 10 again, go here and get ccleaner
Install it, make sure to untick the yahoo toolbar etc
When installed go to / tools / startup and tell me what's in thereDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. False positives are common (ish)
When you can actually come up with anything I dont know then I might start listening
As it stands, your boring the hell out of me ~ get a life
To be on the safe side it would be wisest to remove it all the same. I personally wouldnt EVER recommend using limewire anyways as its bar far the worst P2P technology for getting trojan infections
if the OP feels they still want it then they can download it again from a legit site:idea:0 -
- Go to the same place / tools / startup
- left click one at a time on the 7 items below and click the disable [ not delete ] button on the RHS
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher
Adobe ARM
Groovemonitor
SunjavaUpdateSced
nwiz
NvCplDaemon
NVHotkey
- I don't think the above 7 are needed, do not disable avast5
- some may return after a re-boot, if they do let us know
When you've done that how many icons have you splattered on the RHS & LHS of the bottom taskbar ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Just avatar only and the usual volume, network, power etc.
I am pretty good at eliminating them usually, normall turn off as much from startup as I can.
The 7 I disabled never appeared as an icon in the RHS/LHS to start with.
None have returned0 -

Ok, thought that might be the case, your msconfig was the cleanest I've seen for a while.
- you had 7 and needed 1 or 2, I've seen hundreds that have 20 or 30 or more .. .. .. and only needed 1 0r 2
Right back to ccleaner / cleaner icon & ccleaner / registry icon, if you've not used it before it's a benign product compared to the sort of cleaners I use.
All you need to know that it cleans registry and caches, and cookies etc. That means that if you (1) clean cookies you will have to re-enter your passwords and (2) when you clean the registry it offers to back up the settings make sure you agree to back up registry settings.
NB. when you have got rid of everything, if in future there are any cookies you want to keep go to options / cookies and you will see how to never delete those you choose to keepDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
