Im not being aggressive im just trying to give out the correct information, it has been impossible to prove that car seats do damage the spines, there is a theory but not a solid fact unlike the oxygen desaturation.

This link makes a very good read

    http://www.carseatinfo.co.uk/index.cfm?sid=19086&pid=292366

There is certainly no official "time limit" and the sad thing is that the people who tell you this often do not really know why the unofficial time limit exists! The most common reason given is that infant carrier’s damage baby’s spines. We are sympathetic to this argument; we too believe a baby’s spine should be fully supported by using a carry cot. We understand a number of physiotherapists have also voiced their concerns regarding infant carriers but finding medical evidence to prove that infant carriers damage babies spines has, so far, proven impossible. If you know better than us please let us know!

I was given advice from members of the medical profession which I have passed on in good faith.
I am not going to go OT any more on this point because it is not fair on the op.
Good luck with finding your buggy op!

That was a quote from the website, not me being sarky.

I am very shocked that a midwife and health visitor would give out this information though.

It's not a good idea to have a newborn in a carseat for long periods of time though as it can damage their backs.
    Absolutely!

I think the maximum recommended amount of time in a carseat is two hours. Any longer can affect their breathing/oxygen levels as it squahes them up in an unnatural shape.

I would not describe the Quinny as 'all terrain' though. It's meant for short, flat walks to show off your Yummy-mummy lookit me I'm posh my buggy cost twice what yours did-ness. ;)!

Love this Delain, this is the reason I will not be buying a Quinny as I work in a yummy-mummy area (known as nappy valley!!) which is full of Quinnys and I find that they take up most of the pavement, don't seem particulary pratical but that is just my opinion ;)

I think re choosing a buggy, what we went through was to think: We would be using a mixture of public transport and car, so a small leightweight travel system was essential. Also me being quite small I didn't want a bulky thing which some can be. I think a good idea is to think what will you be doing when bubs comes (using public transport, using a car, be walking a lot, size of car), also do you want to face bubs in early months and does the pushchair have storage as the problem with the quinnys is that they have no storage. Good luck I agree with OP is so much choice, may be a good idea to go to a independent shop with your requirements (and budget!) as they may be more helpful rather than somewhere like mothercare or toysrus which I found their range somewhat limited.

I am on my 3rd pregnancy and i did have a bit of a pram habit. first baby 2006 we bought a Hauck Infinity. I hated it, huge to fold, a funny height for me to push (i'm 5'9) and carry cot/seat unit/car seat all needed to be detatched from frame for folding. When DD was about 9 weeks old we bought a quinny buzz with dremi carrycot. It was alot easier than the infinity to push and fold. If you are in a shopping centre it was fantastic, outside on pavements of questionable height or contition and it was not great. I used to use a sling for these walks rather than the quinny. WHen my daughter was 13 months I was pregnant again so we switched to a zapp. I love the zapp, shame ot doesn't recline so for that reason I personally would not use it for a baby under about 12 months although i believe the age imit is 6+ on it.

While pregnant with number 2 I decided i wanted to sort out this pram thing for the impending child so after much searching we settled on a bebeconfort loola, I think they are now made by maxicosi. I really enjoyed that pram and still use the seat unit today for my not quite 2 year old youngest child. the windoo carry cot is a nice sixe and height onthe frame, it appears solid unike some carry cots. The creatis carseat can lift right from car onto the wheels for ease. This baby I need to buy a new raincover for the carrycot and thats literally it.

    Highly recomended.

Seconded - i've only just got one, and love it - I wish i'd got one from the beginning now.

If you like the look of the Zapp, the Petit Star Zia is very similar, but also lays flat, is cheaper and isn't so tippable. Quite a few mums on the parent thread have them and love them. I love mine too, but not as much as the Stokke.
