  • In answer to your questions:

    1) I've been with Virgin Mobile since 2000 and I've had no problems with them at all. Most of my family are with them as well and any time we've had to phone them we've found their customer service to be good. But then everyone's experiences differ!

About Virgin's coverage - My bf's in the Army and more often than not he's in the middle of nowhere and doesn't always have a signal with Virgin. Where as if he takes his Vodafone SIM with him he's found more often than not he can get a signal. But for me I find the coverage to be no better or worse than any other mobile provider.

    2) I'm not with Virgin BB (.....yet!) but I'm about to switch from Wanadoo (aka Orange) because of this offer. So I can't personally comment on that question. Although a friend of mine has been with them for a while and hasn't had any problems. A good site to look at people's opinions of Virgin.net is: http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=virginnet

    3) No, this isn't a pay for everything up front and redeem your money back.

This is a pay monthly deal. So each month £15 or £30 (depending on which package you chose) is Direct Debited out of your account for the phone contract. The broadband is free so long as you keep paying this £15/30 each month. If you cancel the DD then you have to pay the £17.99 each month for the broadband.

If you already have a Virgin SIM (pay monthly sim only one) then go to http://www.virgin.net/freebroadband/ to sign up.

If you're not a Virgin customer then order a SIM online/buy in a Virgin Store or phone 0845 6000 647:
Choose your tariff, select 'Add to basket' and have your bank details handy.

We'll do a UK credit check online, and if it's successful, you'll pay your first month's cost and we'll deliver the SIM to your door.

I'm assuming the '3 month' redemption clause means that you have to register on the specified website (I'm guessing it's the link I posted above) within 3 months of purchasing your new Virgin SIM to be eligible to get FREE broadband....and that's it. So if you leave it longer than 3 months to register (after you've brought your SIM card) you can't get free broadband. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

    p.s: hope that makes sense!

Thanks mouse_potato. That was a very good first post.

I have been with Virgin payg for 2 years and pay-monthly contract for couple of months. When compared with other service providers I had, Virgin customer service is the best.

In regards to Broadband, I don't have virgin BB, but couple of my friends have virgin BB and they are very happy about it.

One more thing I like with Virgin contract is I can call International calls using 07744 nos and I can also immediately check by balance and online itemisation of calls.

You won't risk much going for SIM only contract, as it is 1 month contract and if you are not happy, you can give 1 month notice and cancel it free.

In regards to BB, you have £50 charge if you cancel within 12 months.

Excellent. Seems likes a really good deal imo and after the initial twelve months, their exchange should be LLU'd and hopefully more competive.

The problem though is that if it is LLU'D it makes it more difficult to migrate and may cost you to do so.
