Being a satisfied customer for virgin broadband for over a year now and currently on the 1mb £14.99 package, I think it is very worhwile to getthe sim only deal for free broadband.

The only potential catch I can see is that the monthly sim deals are currently on promo at £15pm. This may increase with time, but hopefully not.

If you are a virgin broadband customer and want to takethis offer, then purchase a sim online go via quidco for £8 back. 48 hours after receiving and activating your sim card you need to call cancellations on 0845 0450709 who will liaise with virgin mobile to get you on the free broadband.

  • I've been a Virgin Broadband customer for about 11 months now and would agree they are a good provider. I'm in total agreement with Magic_Dragon regarding the fact costing nothing to transfer the service to a new address is a really excellent service. I've had to pay £35ish in the past to do this when I was a freeserve customer and it took 5 weeks to complete because of problems with them and BT. I've changed address twice with Virgin and both time were completed within ten working days and had no problems at all. My only concern with Virgin was it had limited usage which I think was 2Gb a month although in the 11 months I would say I have gone over that massively and have not had any feedback from them. All in all an excellent provider in my opinion. Does anyone else know of any other monthly contract service providers?

Thanks for your feedback, everyone! We've gone with Virgin. I'm not able to get that mobile deal you're talking about, as Virgin doesn't do the Western Highlands very well.

that's if you don't mind paying cross-network call charges if all your mates are on different mobile networks.

I've been reviewing this offer for my parents, it does seem to be ideal for them except for the last part of your post. Are you sure about cross-network call charges not being included as this contradicts the below info.

    From this page.
You can use the airtime in your contract to make calls and send messages to any UK network you like, at any time you choose! And it's not just mobile networks - standard UK calls are included too.

I've signed up to the Virgin Mobile SIM Only deal and can confirm (after calling other mobiles and checking my online account) that the inclusive minutes are indeed cross-network minutes. :)

Excellent. Seems likes a really good deal imo and after the initial twelve months, their exchange should be LLU'd and hopefully more competive.

You can also use the X-net minutes to call 07744 access numbers to make free Intl Calls.

Just to add to something I was told last week when on the phone to Telewest, they are launching all of there joint NTL/Telewest/Virgn mobile deals on the 1st of September with quad play being one of them.

Maybe worth seeing what happens then before anybody does anything :)
